No, I'm not talking about Uncle Ernie taking a plane trip. ;D

Do you believe it is as bad as they say, or just hype?
Is the big push right before the health bill a coincidence or a left wing conspiicy?
Will you get the shot, or pass?

i have never had a flu shot.. won't start now.. pushing 62.. also work with the public everyday..some of them have actually said I'm sick but I got tired of staying home..  ::) I rarely shake hands anymore.. but if someone grabs mine, I'm polite.. and when they leave I go wash my hands,,

I feel it's border line hype..  I still want to know the ingredients in it.. and as they have said so many times..  don't let a good crisis go to waste---

Had my bout with it, lasted all of 48 hours, but it was a bad 48 hours.  I think more of what is thought to be swine flu is just the yearly run in with cold/flu season.  Will.

I think I had it last week.
Not sure. It was some kind of flu.
Very mild.
I was over it in a few days, and felt a little run down for a couple days after that.
Fine now.

Probably the mildest flu I ever had.

Saw that one before, actually I can start mine right now,but sent my seat cover out to be made out of brown leather for the cost of shipping.  So I'd have to put something over the springs so I don't get my butt pinched.  Hmmm bet I can find something that will do.  Will.

No the pit bull usually steals that at night, wouldn't want a wrestling match with him over it.  Actually I could just cut a top pattern out and make one from some scrap leather I have around here and cowboy lash it to the frame.  Maybe I'll do that tomorrow when I get home from work.

Thyanks for the idea Scotty.  Will.

The culprit here is always the pit bull, AKA Buster Brown, if the biscuit box has been raided it's the Bassett Hound, and other general mayhem is the Rott.  I know their MO's.  Will.

Probably for most of you guys it is not a big worry.  Adults who are not extremely young or extremely old appear to mostly get a fairly mild version of the disease.  People in higher risk groups, however, are getting it bad enough to require ICU at higher rates than with seasonal flu, so yeah I take it seriously.  They're not pushing vaccination for you guys unless you are a caregiver for the elderly or children, or a healthcare worker, so I don't know what your issue is

As for myself, I'm getting the vaccination as soon as I can find a place that has it (or still has it by the time I get there).  I have pulmonary sarcoidosis, and while I am thankfully no longer on immunosuppressive drugs, I am at high risk for contracting pneumonia if I get sick.  Two years ago I didn't get my flu shot and contracted both type A and B flu during the flu season.  I just barely esacaped hospitilazaion each time.

If you find it to by hype, more power to you - don't get vaccinated.  Don't, however, write off as hype what may indeed be a significant risk for other groups of people.

In my city, about a dozen schoolchildren and one principal died of swine flu at the end of the previous schoolyear. Already in this schoolyear hundreds of schoolchildren have become dangerously ill and hospitalized, with more deaths, plus at-risk groups like pregnant women are presenting with swine flu more and more frequently. So, it's real.

I haven't gotten a flu shot since the mid-1990s, and since then have only contracted it once. However, I'm planning to get it this year in order to avoid spreading it to other people. My wife is pregnant, so she'll be getting it too.

It's so easy to ignorant, oops, ignore a potential problem if you just RIGHT it off as a LEFT wing conspiracy.

Among my bag of pills are Prograf and Cellcept.  I have no immune system.
I'm still not getting a vaccination.  I think the general populace has come to expect way too much from the government.  They're all incompetant, lying, fools who everyone has given power to.
Run what ya brung

I have been hospitalized a couple of time due to complications from the flu. Scared the hell out of my wife, but I was too delirious to notice. My father got his flu shot religiously so after my last bout I started getting them too. I got my last one in 2004. I was paralyzed for a couple of days. For a couple of more months I could not use my left arm or bend my neck. It took almost a year to regain close to full function, but even now I live with a constant ache in my upper arm  and have some movement glitches.
The government response was "That can't happen and we can prove it." I couldn't afford the lawsuit.
The point being that there really is not full disclosure. It worked for my father, and for Eamon the benefits outweigh the risks. The swine flu is being over hyped by a media and a government that both thrive on  "problems" which only they can solve.  That being said, the Spanish flu killed some 20 million people. Jim Henson (Muppets) died from the flu. The danger is real.
The really scary part is trying to decide if you are getting enough information to make a truly informed decision. Who do you trust? What data do you trust?
Let me know when you figure it out.

Guess I'm cursed with lupus, so my immune system never shuts off.  And no you wouldn't want the disease, and no it's not contagious.

If I take the shot my body will fight back and not know when to stop.  This will make me worse off than without it.  I stopped getting them after I retired from the service and was no longer a guinea pig.  For the people who have a compromised immune system I guess I say do what you think is right in your situation.  Will.

Daughter talked me and wife in getting the seasonal flu shot 2 weeks ago (she's a nurse and gave us the shots)..still no vaccine yet here for H1 flu...I'm wary as I got a flu shot 15 years ago free at work and I thought I was going to die...Remember sitting on the couch and my legs involuntary got rigid and went straight out in front of me while sitting....Jeeze I thought I was going to die for a week from the worst case of the flu..It took me about 4 months to get back to where I was before I took that dam thing vaccine shot ...Its a crap shot whether u gonna live or die...keep breathing and go for a ride.
Oh Magoo you done it again

There is a shortage of "swine flu" ( or was it bird flu) shots. The plan is to give it to prisoners first.

I am willing to give my shot to anyone who wants it. If I were evil, I would  monopolize on all the scare propaganda and sell it for a tighty sum.

Oh , I know nurses who never will take a flu shot. NY tried to make it mandatory for health care workers...funny thing is they ran out about the same time as nurses started to balk.
