Just bought a bullet and changed the rear "trafficator".
They function fine when lights are off but when in "p" light mode or
lights on mode, they blink very slowly and allternate front to back. Is
this normal? If no how do i fix?
Thanks

Check your battery condition. Is it holding a good charge?

Check your alternator output. Is it charging the battery?

Check the flasher unit. I don't know where it is on the bike, but once found, you should be able to check its output with a voltmeter and see good consistent spikes of voltage coming out of it.

The flasher unit is under the seat. Check the bulbs, too.  They need to be 10 watt.  (I found that out today when I couldn't understand why my indicators didn't work after I had changed two bulbs.  After changing bulbs I had a 10 watt and a 5 watt on each side.  The flasher unit didn't like that at all).

The flasher unit works on the principle of a bi-metlaic strip. That is, the current passing through it to light the front and rear lamps and the green indicator lamp in the speedometer (2 x 10w + 5w) causes the strip to heat up and bend away from it's contact. When it cools down it re-makes its conbtact and the cycle starts again. That's what causes the clicking sound.

If you don't match the flasher unit and bulbs then you wont get the correct flash rate.

I have upgraded my lamps to brighter 20w bulbs for front and back with a matched flasher unit.

Sometimes, it pays to advertise.
