The Nobel Peace Prize sort of falls out of the sky onto your guy. Our (ex) dude is waiting for the EU Presidency to fall into his lap - like there was nobody else in the World that would do instead.

If this kind of thing keeps happening, my lower jaw is going to get sore from hitting the desk when I read the news on-line.

It's all a stage play.

As for the Nobel Prize, all the nominations had to be in by February, and then nominations were closed.
By Feb, Obama had just barely even taken office.
And he'd certainly done nothing to affect "world peace" before that anyway.
Not that he's done anything since, either.
Maybe it had something to do with those trillions he gave to the international banks in the bailouts, with no questions asked and no oversight?

And, as you point out, what makes Blair "worthy" of anything, either?

It's all getting very transparent now, eh?

It seems the Nobel committee was making a statement about the positive effect Obama has had on people around the world, but I agree that it's premature. He has started some promising initiatives and gotten decent preliminary results, but not nearly enough time has passed to see the full outcomes.

It's really bizarre.

I thought his statement struck the right tone, though.

The Nobel Peace Prize went to hell in a hand basket when Yasser Arafat won it!  Besides and whether or not you like the man, this is another way for the Academy Awards (ahem, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee) to show their disdain for former President George W. Bush, to whom they did not award an Oscar!  I take it for the joke that it (has been and) is!

Your missing the point --its not the peace he has made but the peace he is trying to make.

But yes --an eye brow raiser, must not have been many applications this year.

I had two tickets to the Nobel prize ceremony laying in plain sight on the dash of my truck, some bastard broke in and left two more!
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.
