So I've only had mine for a few weeks but whilst riding around my complex the foot shifter fell off.  I guess the nut holding it to the peg came loose and it popped right off!  It was still torqued tight enough that I couldn't just push it back on to my bike very easily.  Spanners to the rescue!

PS : Is it normal for stuff like that to fall off? ;-)

That's why we say do a good walk around the bike before riding.  Interesting things work/vibrate themselves loose/off.  Will.

What kind of pipe do you have on it?  I want to get a freer flowing air pipe w/o the too much extra noise!

My shifter fell off, too.  The bolt and nut are tight.  I don't get it.
Oh well- the linkage kept me from losing it.  Just popped it back on.

As Ice mentioned! Locks! forever!  :)

I had the so called major parts especially weak to vibrations changed to lock nuts, etc.

Haven't worried since. Although I do check them from time to time just out of habit.

Which nuts are most prone to vibration drop off?  Can I get a list and the size of the lock nut I should buy?

THanks

The nuts attached to your Royal Enfield are the ones to be concerned with.  Use Loctite Blue.

I never touched loctite before my RE, now I have multiple bottles of it. Love the stuff. Never red (even when it is in a blue bottle).

I would mainly go for mainly;
1. Front fender stay nuts
2. Foot rest nuts
3. Kick start lever nut
4. Silencer attachement nuts
5. Passenger foot rest nuts
6. Rear tail light nut

I also confirm that using Loctite blue is as good sometimes even better than lock nuts.

An aircraft mechanic passed that tip to me ages ago.
De greasing the threads before applying loctie is sound practice. Like him, I use 91% Isopropyl alcohol.  Its cheap as chips at the local druggist, safe to use, It does not eat paint or plastics, is environmentally friendly and best of all it evaporates quickly leaving no residue.

Hi,
My name is Ice and,,,,,, I have a loctite collection  ;D
