Had a cheap bagless vacuum cleaner once.

"Enjoy a world of bag free cleaning", it boasted.

Sure enough, I never bought a bag for the sucker but unfortunately, it had filters a plenty - one of which you needed to smack over the dustbin with a blunt instrument once a week to get the crud out of it. Many a time I would enter the house covered in last week's skin cells muttering "run me up a bath, Ma, I's been a whompin' on that vacuum filter again."

Anyway, I have a vacuum cleaner that takes scented throw-away bags now, and very nice it is too.

I was given a used broken bagless vac by a little ole lady who thought she was doing me a favor, bless her heart.
I pulled the reusable bag, and then a plum of white powder dust went everywhere, turns out it was full of perfume powder for ladies.
Next thing I know my wife is questioning me to find out what I've been up to.( I must have been smelling good). After an reasonable explanation I was able to resume trouble shooting.
It needed a rubber band drive to fix it,
It was my pleasure to throw the thing into the dumpster.

I like our bagless.  And no giant filter to clean out either - it's incorporated into the lid of the can and easily shakes out.  The HEPA filter I bang out once every six months or so.

Bad bagless vacuums are just as bad as bad bagged vacuums.
