Hello, when I bought my used 03 Bullet it came with the following mods, 30mm Amal MK1 concentric carb, and a Goldstar exhaust.  Amal  less that 2000 miles on it.

I belive I have the carb dialed in, got a nice tan plug. Starts 1-2 kicks, good acceleration.

Only problem is I cant get a smooth  tickover. Hear what almost sounds like a squeak from the pipe. When decelerating with throttle off, it feels like the bike surges.  Lean condition on idle?

Adjsuted the pilot screw some what, don't belive this model carb has a pilot jet.. Any help and advise is greatly appreciated.

Not willing  to give up this qiuck on the Amal and go Mikuni. The Amal just looks great on the bike.

Thanks Andy

Mtrude, thanks for the link, just what I thought, no pilot jet, just a pilot orfice. Tried blowing it out with carb cleaner, link said that you have to ream out the crud.

The bike is an 03 it had 1700 mile on the clock whe I bought it. That will tell you what the inside of the carb was like.

Thanks Andy

Hello, Carb cleaner is o.k., so is the compressed air for cleaning electronics, The best way is a blow gun and shop air from a compressor. Be careful when your digging out crud, you dont really need a bigger hole.Good luck, mtrude
