So I give my '09 Military rig it's monthly cleaning with the pressure washer.
I check the air psi, and WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
2250 miles and BOTH tires are shot, shot shot! >:(
No wait, I had the off road knobbies on it for the winter had 500 miles? on those, so the tires got eaten in 1750 miles?
Cheese and Crackers! I was hoping to get more from them..........................

I think that's very unusual.
Normally, the Avon SM tires that come stock on the Bullets wear so long that you have to change them because of age, but they still have tons of tread.
I have over 5k miles on mine, and they still have plenty of tread left.
I do need to change them though, because they are too old now.

Agreed; my Avon SM tires lasted 8,000 miles!
Long live the Bullets and those who ride them!

Ditto mine: 6900 miles and they're the originals. Just did my routine maintenance that specifies a tire inspection and they were good.

You must have gotten lemons!

That doesn't make sense.
Mine look new with 2200 miles.

What kind of conditions are you riding on?

Also did your RE come with English made Avons? That's what I have.

If nothing strange happens, (knockin' wood) I'll pass 10K miles on my stock Avons next week.  The front is getting close to the wear stripes, but the rear could probably do another season... I'll be changing them out this winter.

My originals are at 12 K miles. The front is getting a little thin, but the rear is wearing flat no matter how hard I go around corners.  :( But the rear still has lots of thread though they both will be changed soon to the AM26.

Just hit 1,000 miles on mine and there is no wear whatsoever.  Something must be wrong

Almost 4k on my originals, wearing like iron.  Shop techs here at the Honda dealer told me if you get 3k on a pair of tires you got your money out of them.  Avons kind of suck in my book but are good middle of the road tires.  I had almost 9k on the tires of my Norton when I bought that, and I was second owner.  First owner said they were the originals.  They were the original series spedmasters if I remember correctly, heck they may have been Carlisle can't remember now.  Will.

How often do you check your air pressure?  Low tires run hotter...

Almost 13K on mine and no (very little) noticable wear. I was hoping they would wear down quicker to give me an excuse to get a set of AM 26.

That's funny, I put a set of them on my G5 and and with a little over 1,500 miles on them they are worn down to 1.5 mils from the wear bar. I don't expect to get 2500 miles out of em. 38 psi in the rear and 34 psi in the front.
I got 10 K out of the stock Speedmaster/Safetymileage combo on my 99 running 30psi in the rear and 20psi in the front.
Go figure.
I do know what's going back on the G5 this winter if not sooner.

I wonder why yours wore out so fast?  I've had my Roadriders on for over 4000 miles and they are doing fine so far.  They are certainly wearing faster than the Speedmasters they replaced, but I think I'll get a couple more thousand out of them easily.  When I replace them I may go back to Speedmasters, but mostly because I like the look, they suit my riding style, and they were probably better on unpaved/gravel roads than the Roadriders.

I have no idea.
I am taking a 1,700 mile trip on the bike next week so I hope they will last through that. If not at least there is a RE dealer at the halfway point.

I don't know what the book recommends for air pressure but 34/38 seem a bit high to me.  I know even my 735 pound Drifter doesn't run anything close to that.  Will.

I thought I'd give Vince's theory a try,

http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/index.php/topic,2890.0.htm

The max on the Roadrider rear is 42. Minus 10% = 38 rear and minus another 10% = 34 front.
Seemed logical, handled good, not willing to change tires that often.

Avon recommends 29 in the rear 27 in the front for those tires on the Bullet.
This is what I'm going to run until it's time to change them. Then I'm going back to the stock Speedmaster/SafetyMilage combo.

Not really much to look at.
Wear bars are a bunch closer to the surface and the V shape profile is now a U profile.
I took my camera to the Battle of the Brits today and when I get it out I'll snap a few pics for ya.

I dunno?? Maybe my tires were used for "testing" before they were put on my scoot and shipped to me?
They had LOTS of thread when I got the bike?
I looked on the side of the road for the tread, but I guess some road kill dragged the thread off into the woods? ??? ;D
I usually check my tire pressure at least once a week, (it's kinda a ritual, lube the chain, clean out the side car, (who threw all this "sheet" in here?), check the tire PSI. I keep them @ 32-36 psi, they have never been below 30 psi when I checked them?
They're worn down even across the tire, so it wasn't a inflate or balance issue.
I dunno I think I'll try a cheap pair next spring, (I run these baloney skins til I put the winter knobbies on next month er so).
