Pretty cool story!

I'm glad he did well, and had a safe trip.

Way to go, Geoff!!!!

Very nicely done - this report by Goeff.  He went through some great country. I notice he was surprised at how "Western" parts of California felt, but that was the Old West, that and Texas, with much of the rest of the western states being settled later.

Good choice of route for sight seeing, but I think if saving fuel was the object, a straight run through Arizona, Nevada eventually to Eastern Washington and then Canada might have gotten to the 10 gallon limit. But then if that was all that this was about, like Goeff says, he could have gone slower and used other methods to conserve diesel.

His trip also shows that one doesn't have to drive that fast to go cross country on an Enfield.

Nice, relatively trouble-free trip - obviously good preparation.

Nothing to sneeze at all. Great job Geoff!

So now that he's figured out how to improve and could be done a little before the cool weather sets in, what's the goal for next year?  ::)

Quite a feat, essentially using "free fuel" to joy ride.
Pitting man and machine through grueling paces.

But why did he quit the forum, before the journey?
That eliminated a potential source of support. What was the point?

I don't think Goeff quit the forum, he is just taking a break.  Goeff is an intense person and had to give himself breathing room to get his project underway and accomplished.  He probably felt he couldn't spend the time to try to support his political position against a group of dumb-dumbs ;D

that's why i stay out of the political threads. it's really hard to keep up with guys with as much as thirty years of life experience on me. i'm sure Geoff had an easier time, but damn, trying to effectively argue a point with some old dogs is well, pretty daunting. so i don't bother. you guys probably don't care much about some young wippersnapper and all the crazy he gets to inherit...

Geoff did quit the forum for his own reasons and resigned as editor in chief of the R.E.A. newsletter .  If you search his name his posts now show him as "Guest".

No matter where you go, there, you are.

That saddens me. He has a lot to offer, whether you agree or not. But if that's his decision I will regretfully support it.

Geoff's last account here was not his first account here. Hopefully he will be back.

I very much agree with Geoff politically, but I avoid the political topics like doomed1. I try to ask myself regularly if I am putting my politics before my serenity. I will work my @ss off on a campaign, but I see no use in debating politics on my favorite motorcycle forum. I am grateful that very little of it leaks outside of the Campfire Talk.

Good points, and I agree on all of them!

I like Geoff, but don't agree with his poltics.
I guess that makes me a" dumb-dumb"

Again ,I think he should stayed with the forum at least till he finished his ride.
Then he should of grabbed a Coke and cigarette gathered his thoughts. Hind sight is 20/20.

Any takers on the REA editor?
