I run a 2010 C5 with Cozy chair & am a little miffed at its ability to climb long slow inclines into a head wind, especially with transports comming towards you, it's a full time job to keep your helmet on & keep the rig on the road. Some of these transports are huge & are travelling fast. I need to sort this out as some of the runs we do are around the 300ks.
    I have listened to the talk of adding an extra tooth to the front sproket & I have listened to changing to an upswept exhaust without the catalitic converter to give me a little extra top end running speed. Will this work & which is the better method.

Cheers

Honestly I'd add a tooth and the exhaust, you need all the grunt you can get pulling a chair.

On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

With a sidecar you need to take a tooth off the front sprocket or add some to the rear. A G5 sprocket should do the trick on a C5.

Another vote here for the G5 front sprocket and up swept / low restriction exhaust.
My buddy gets goods results with similar mods to his Iron Barrel with cozy.
No matter where you go, there, you are.

Adding a tooth will lower your revs, but going up-hill, you need torque.
Modifing the exahust, intake, etc will add a little torque, but not especially top speed.
I'm afraid you got a Royal Enfield and put an anchor sidecar on it.  It works in flatter areas OK, but the mountains are another story.

Uncle Ernie,
I do like your signature line....."What ya brung"  out here in Oz we tell mates to open the door with ya feet.... which implies that you have your hands full of beer........

Good catch Uncle.

What I meant to say and failed miserably was;

Drop one or two teeth on the front sprocket and open the exhaust up some.
No matter where you go, there, you are.

A little late to the conversation, but Uncle Ernie is on target. I run an '05 Classic & Cozy chair. Have done exactly what was suggested. I also recently lost my piston & now have 535cc & have taken any excess weight I can off the rig. Runs great but I don't compete with transports {:{)}
