Hello everyone,

Me along with a couple of friends completed one of the most amazing motorcycle trip that one could take. We started out from New Delhi from my home early morning and well on our way to Manali.

A 500 AVL, 350 Machismo and a 350 Electra

The real ride started today. We fell short of Manali previous evening and stayed in Kullu.
The view next morning from the hotel was beautiful..

Entering Manali.

I put on my helmet cam.

Climbing towards Rohtang - La, alt - 13000 ft.

My bike....posing.

The older machismo 350 has troubled gears. So rest of us two shared third bikes load.

Steadily climbing

Finally encountered the Tourist Traffic Jam.

Made it to the Pass

The road was getting entertaining.

Mike exhausted. For him, it was tough because he isn't used to so much traffic and so much of clutch use. So you can probably tell. hehe

Like i said, roads were only getting entertaining. Add to that the streams of icy waters running amok on road (or whatever was left of it)

Heyo Chanderjeet,

Great pictures, thanks for sharing them with us.  The more I see of India the more I want to make it over some day, if not just for the good eats.

I noticed of late you are becoming quite the man to visit while in India,  I was reading the Postmans thread over at ADV and was pleasantly surprised to see you RE make an appearance in the thread.  Pretty cool.

Thanks everyone. Glad you are enjoying the pics.

here's what the road looked on the other side of the Rohtang Pass.

Get more and more .......... enjoyable.

As the evening grew darker, we reached the only Petrol Station for the next 300kms.

Traffic at night is different to say the least

No porter needed to get the stuff to first floor room.

Waking up to some ice covered peaks.

Checked in with the Police at the Darcha Checkpoint

And had some really good breakfast

ZingZingbar is a place right out of Tintin comics

We began ascending again. This time it was Baralacha-La. My favorite pass.

Though while climbing up I was flagged down by an Aussie coming down from the pass.
We suggested going back and wait for the first vehicle to cross since the peak has been snowed out.
An Avalanche stuck and he just got out after 5 hours.

hmmmm..... so we waited and took some pics.

Waiting was getting boring and we were too far away from nearest tea stall to go back and rest.
So without wasting much time it was decided that i should start and go to the pass alone.
If i didn't return in half hour, the rest two would follow.

So i started climbing.

And kept climbing till i made it to the top.

And the traffic jam was right around the corner.

I squeezed though some trucks and cabs while the tires grabbed any traction they could find on the black snow.
I made it through the traffic and waited in the valled below for my friends while i got some chai.

After 1 hour, they appeared. Apparently they got hit by a tiny little snow strom. :)

The sun was shining again and made haste to our destination.
