  • Finding my ways
Hi Everyone,
I purchased a brand new beautiful red Deluxe AVL almost a year ago and I can't get enough of her.
This bike is just amazing, wherever I go the people pop up from everywhere to ask about the bike.
I live in Houston Texas, a Harley territory, but my bike is just a sensation. In the parking lots and on the highways, the people always smile at me.

There is not a dealer here in Houston, therefore when I purchased the bike I had to go to Austin Texas and had to drive the bike back home. When I arrived home after a good six hours on the road, I had clocked exactly 200 miles on a single tank without switching to reserve when I arrive home at 1am.  I got to enjoy a cool ride escorted by my wife car on my tale the hole way.

At 300 miles, I did my first oil change, guided by this forum. Now, I have clocked about 1800 Happy miles on my bike following the forum tips taps.

I was a Yamaha guy, but there is nothing more satisfying than to own a Beautiful piece of history. I have enhanced my bike with the following after-market items: installed a solo seat and a pillow pad for a more retro look; changed the original headlight for a 5 1/2" tribar halogen bulb; installed Beston grips; installed bullet turn signals; installed a round rear tail light; paint a Pinup girl in the left side engine cover, bullet turn signals, installed a horn that blast a "Howooooga" sound; installed a British license plate "The Pedestrian Slicer"; installed bar end mirrors; installed the antique gas filter; and thanks to Acecafe ‘s pics and explanation here in the site I invented a nice Windshield flyscreen for my bike. at 800 miles I replaced the muffler with a fish tail pipe "The Flash Gordon" type; at 1000 miles I upgraded to a less restrictive air filter “acorn” attached to the original hose that connects to the toolbox;  also a 19 tooth sprocket, but didn't know that I needed to use a magneto extractor tool.  That supposed to take only a few hours, but became to be a a few days waiting for the tool to arrive from CMW.

I appreciate all of the tips from all of you guys that tell me how to make the bike better through this site and also to our host that makes things possible for Us.

Only downside was that when I purchase the bike at the dealer they did not have the manual book or the cables that suppose to come with,  the only give me a bag with tree wrenches and a screwdriver an a good lock bye, bye.    I almost felt that they were betting and laughing I would not make to Houston without a break down or something like that.      But this amazing machine did not complaint at all and has been a sweet lady since I got her.   Best thing I ever had!

Until then, thanks to everyone!

Awesome lookin' bike - I LOVE that exhaust! I'm betting that you treat that little bike with respect - It'll run forever for you. Sometimes you can just tell when a bike and a rider "click" together (I did with my little Blue Belle, for sure!) - it can be a match made in heaven! Enjoy it! Too bad about your dealer ... HE is the loser in that equation.
Spare the pig iron - spoil the part!

Heeheehee - That is SO funny! Why DO the Hardly-Ableson boys sneek glances at our cool little bikes, rather than just saying "Wow - THAT'S cool!" - you know - like WE would?

Very slick Retroman!  This is my first summer w/my little RE Electra w/hack and most of the folks I ride w/are hardly ableman, and yams.  I may not be able to keep up with them when they open their beasts up. but the kids we go to see they all like the "Little Red Rhodesian Ridgeback Rider" best.

I do find it rather funny that the HD's and Yam horns sound a lot like ours. So here is this "Big bad bike" with a horn that attracts ducks.

Come to the Dark Side....We have cookies!
