Brethren & Sistren:

I'm a total noob when it comes to motorcycles (I really know absolutely nothing!), but the recent New York Times article on RE really struck me.  I have just arrived in the UK, and will be here until the latter half of July.  I'd be interested in meeting with anyone who wouldn't mind spending an afternoon sharing his or her passion about RE bikes.

I'm in Leeds until the end of June, then in Manchester until July 20th.  PM me if this interests you.

Thanks,

Bill

Tall,
Do you look like your avatar?
Sir , no offence, but your tailor has betrayed you.

The Brits may think so too.

Great website, talltenor!

I am sure you will find some RE owners over there to share the passion; and once bitten, you will be an RE owner for life...

Tall,
You've probably already checked out RE UK web sits. Here one that offers RE rentals in the UK.

REpozer...

Yeah, that's me.  It's a production shot from six or seven years ago:  I was supposed to look like I'd been in hand-to-hand combat, so I guess it's a good pic.

I'll check the rental site you mention.  Given that I'm totally new to motorcycles, i.e. I haven't ridden in 30 years & would need to take the safety course to get a license in my state, I am happy at this point just to look and/or ask questions.

Oh, and geoffbaker... thanks!  It's amazing what you can do with a MacBook.   ;D

I'd be happy to meet up some time, however I'm in Devon which is a bit of a way away. Still, we're home to http://www.bmad.co.uk/ and a regular even has an RE Interceptor!

Hi, James:

I remember having rented a car years ago, and spending a week driving over many back roads in Devon, Somerset, and Cornwall.  So you're in great biking country, for sure!  As I said, I'm in Leeds for a month, then in Manchester for three weeks, so I realize I'm quite a ways north of you.  I'll have limited free time until the first week of July, but I hope we can work out something.

In the meantime, I hope you get your bike back soon!

It was all in fun on the pic. To be honest with you I"vie been told my avatar makes me look like a buffalo , I may change it.
Sounds like your doing things many of us dream about.
I agree on the safety aspect. Be safe , share what you learn.

Well, I figured if I were going to join a forum that's all about biking, then I had to find a pic that made me look tough!   ;D

Now all I need to do is to start saving, and to take that safety course...

I left out convincing the wife why all of this is would be a good idea...

One of my daughters says she's afraid of motorcycles, but the other one is keen on the idea.  She's the one who, the first time she was helped onto a horse (at age 4), turned and asked, "How do you make it go fast?"

Yup, that was a very good clue. Hang on dad, I had one like that too. ;D

You obviously haven't been around too many Royal Enfield owners.  I'm about as tough looking as they come.
