Everyone has their own method that works, mine is:
cold start: enrichener on, compression release on, 3 kicks w/ throttle closed, Ignition on, throttle 1/3 bring to compression, kick that momma!
warm start: open throttle 1/3, on compression, kick. mine always starts 1st kick. I set my idle ( air bleed ) on the rich side.
Hard starting can be poor state of tune, valves needing adjusted,etc ...If you are lean, try the enrichener , if that works, you probably need to adjust your lo speed jetting.
