Following instructions from you guys I un-corked the engine on mine today.  Since I always try to do everything cost effectively (read cheap) I cut the restrictor out of the headpipe.  Removed the PAV system, installed a Dunstill replica muffler ($42.00 with shipping), and rejetted the carb.  Total cost=less than $70.00 bucks.

Wow what a kick in the pants!  Never thought unrestricting an engine with so few mods could make such a difference.  Kind of figured the American market bikes would be pretty restricted.  Am pleasantly surprised.

Now I'll have to save up money for the flatside carb or possibly the Amal concentric carb or the Goldstar Exhaust.  But then again maybe not, I could learn to really like it this way.  Will.

Alright, where is the picture? I assume this was on the military not the Electra?

Exactly..on the military.  I'll try and snap a few pics tomorow for the gang.  Put about 20 miles on her before the house commander needed help.  So ran out of daylight to shoot any.

Yep!
It's alot nicer when it's "uncorked".
Now your almost at the level that the factory claims for hp on the 500.
Probably in the neighborhood of 20hp peak at the rear wheel. You were about 15-16 hp at the rear wheel before.

You're gonna have a real fun weekend, Will.

I get "honey do" lists as well as I am retired but my wife still works three days a week.

I always make sure my list is bigger than hers!

Went out for about a 15 mile ride today and (to quote Brother Cruz) WOWZAA, almost doesn't seem there's an end to the power band.  But of course when you're running in the torque band it's always better.  40-45 fourth gear uphill in fourth, begging for fifth.  Okay I'll give it to you..continued climbing a decent hill at 1/4" of throttle.  Now I'm truly impressed.

Just have to save up the money to do like things to wifeys' Electra so she can keep up..(or learn to slow down, NOT!).  Later Brothers of The Royal Enfields..Will.

No joke, I have put over 600 miles on this spring and I feel I don't get to ride much.

Maybe we got a name for an exclusive Wisconsinite M/C.  The Frozen Polar Bears M/C.  Sounds kind of catchy.  You're passage rite is that you have to ride at least 100 miles in all of the following weather conditions.  1).  (Pledge)- A day that started at 37º and warmed to a balmy 55ºor above.  2).  (Member)- You've rode through at least 35 MPH winds and driving rain at night.  3).  (Board of Directors)- You've rode through ice and snow to work for at least a week in January because you were waiting on a part for your car.

We've all probably already passed that just this spring alone.  What to do we always say 2 seasons in Wiscosin..winter and road construction.  Will.

Br. Will, I cannot recall a posting of yours that overflowed with so much excitement and sheer joy!!!  But, I understand your utter happines.  An uncorked RE engine is an absolute WOWZAA!!!
Long live the Bullets and those who ride them!

Guess I'll never be able to join the Polar Bears M/C = we had five minutes of hail once, does that count?

I think mine is now uncorked, but I drive too slow to feel it!

After your enthusiastic posts, Will, I think I can hear the corks popping out from Enfields all over America!

Boy, howdy have I learned all about Minnesota winters this year .... being a Southern Gentleman transplant - I really thought that "zero" indicated cold and was about about south as the mercury went on the thermometer .... WRONG!!  :'( Zero is almost a balmy day in January in Minnesota .... Thirty BELOW zero is freekin' COLD ....... So - any day that it ain't snowin' and the oil in the bike isn't concrete is a ridin' day! See how fast I learned? ;D
Spare the pig iron - spoil the part!

Exactly, you are getting acclimated if 0º feels warm, shoot that's suntan weather up here!  I have rode the motorcycle in February on polar bear runs for Childrens' Miracle Network.  Done Christmas shopping on a bike.

Friends of mine from Kentucky/Tennessee ask if our brains are frozen up here, guess that could be.  Hey LJ hail counts if it was covering the roadway making it slick for driving.  But I bet you've ridden through some pretty bad monsoons..what the heck we'll make you an honorary member.

Guess I've never been a fair weather "biker", (too hot, too cold, too dark, etc.).  Many happy miles, Will.  (And a double WOWZAA to the Br. Cruz).

I think this is all evidence of the "Global Warming". :D

Like, we're having frost tonight in southern Tennessee in the middle of May!
And no, I'm not joking. It's gonna be in the 30s tonight here.
