Wisconsin has had a program since the early 70's to mark some roads as "Rustic Roads." Not always, but often they are beautiful. Sometimes when I happen upon one I will go down it to check it out. Last fall I hit a great one on my Bullet when the leaves were changing. This morning I set out to find another one.

It turns out the state will send you a "Rustic Roads Motorcycle Tour" patch if you send them 10 pictures of your bike by different starting signs. So I took my first picture today by RR 86.

Kind of a cool way to set out on a Sunday ride. I just have to remember to take something better than my cell phone for pictures.

-Rick

Edit: I wanted to add that 86 was just great towards the end. There was a nice area with turns and small hills. It was an absolute blast to ride.

Rick, great pic and story about the rustic roads. I spent some time during my Marine Corp days training at Camp Douglas and enjoyed traveling around your state. Keep posting your pics of your rides.

I would love to see some more photos of your area.
I think for me, seeing where people ride (through the eyes of the rider) is my favorite part of the forum.

I took 33 back from the REunion last year. That part through Wildcat Mountain State Park is breathtaking.
Switchbacks in S. Wisconsin? Who would have thought!
Too bad I was on my HD and it was pouring rain.
I'm doing it on the Enfield this year. Hopefully dry.

Another great ride is around the lakes from Superior to Ashland on Hwy 13 to Hwy 2.  Have done that one a couple of times.  Will.

I was on that a few years back as part of the Lake Superior circle tour.
Ah, all this talk of quality riding makes me want to pack up and go someplace.
