I just ran my breather hose to the rear fender. After reviewing the pic, should the duckbill be shortened or is this where it should be? By the way, I found it very hard to track down the same type of hose as original. I found a 3/8" I.D.X 1/2" O.D. black vinyl hose at Home Depot 10' length for $4. It was to tight for the fittings so I warmed up the ends with a heat gun (easy does it) and it slipped on like a glove. Only time will tell if this holds up, but this hose is rated for chemicals and so on.

That's a good lookin' job! I use the same hose on my Brit resto projects - it's almost identical to the crankcase breather hose used on the Norton bikes. So far, so good with it. I'm guessing that you'll be just fine!
Spare the pig iron - spoil the part!

Blltrdr,
That hose should hold up. I've been using a clear vinyl hose for over a year with no problems. If it does deteriorate over time, it's cheap to replace.

Regarding shortening the duckbill, no I don't think it should be any shorter.
In fact, depending on how stiff that duckbill hose is(I used the short one from the catch tank, so I don't know), you might want to put a stiff wire(or something) bracket near the end, so the wind doesn't blow the duckbill backward/upward and spit the oil fumes onto your nice-looking license plate holder.
I made my hose a bit longer than you did, and actually tied it to the bottom hole of my license plate with a cable tie(I know you hate them, but that's what I did). Mine sticks out about 1" straight back under the license plate.

After using this awhile, I notice that the oil fumes do leave some oil vapor deposits around the license plate area, because of the swirling turbulence behind the bike.  So, you need to wipe that area off periodically, because it gets lightly oiled.

BTW, the back end of your bike is REALLY looking GOOD!
And your breather hose installation looks great too. I just don't know about where the oil vapor fumes are going to wind up with that, so keep an eye on it, and adjust the outlet position as necessary to achieve what you want.
If the duckbill doesn't blow around, and it doesn't really get much oil deposited on the license plate holder(it WILL get some small amount on it anyway, no matter where you put the outlet, from turbulence), then you're fine the way it is.

I think it's cool to watch the duckbill opening and closing when the bike is idling, while I'm warming it up. You can actually watch it working.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I do value all input when it comes to formulating ideas. Maybe if I cut off 2", it would raise the duckbill up so it is tucked behind the license holder. This might ease the turbulence effect on it and also keep the duckbill hidden from the rear view (aesthetics).

It might.
Or it might be okay as it is.
You just have to ride it and see what it does, and adjust if needed.

Br. B, is WIPERBIKEALOTIS! a terminal disease?  Or, is it just a chronic condition affecting recovering perfectionists?  :D :D :D

Terminal? Yes, WIPERBIKEALOTIS can be terminal if the afflicted are not kept away from cleaning products. If left unchecked this disease can morph into something completely untreatable. An intervention may be in order as a last ditch effort to save the afflicted from their perfectionistic vision. If this horrible disease cannot be kept in check God help us all.

Purchase the duckbill from our CMW. Yes you need a valve (duckbill).

the cure for wiperbikealotis is verry verry long road trips . start out early in the morning and ride till sunset ,pitch your tent in the twilight and sleep getting up early the next morning ,preferably before sunrize, and hit the road.  continue doing this till any symptoms of wiperbikealotis  dissappear.

Well you probably already have one. Do you have a catch can that your breather hose attaches to? If so there is a duckbill inside that can.

This has been posted a hundred times, but I took the duckbill out of my can, cut the hose that was going to the catch can and glued the duckbill valve into that hose. I do the evil thing of venting on my chain. Why that is evil has been posted a hundred times too. I guess I am just evil.

I am interested in the fancy bunn breather, but not interested enough to drop the coin on it.

Rick, I don't think anyone really thinks it is evil, just that some bikes blow more oil than others which can cause a real mess on your rear wheel and possible safety issues that go along with it. In your case it probably gives you a slight misting which isn't an issue.

I think a lot of people worry about it being acidic and generally bad stuff. I was reading the bunn breather marketing lit and it sounds horrible from their description. I think they said it attacks innocent virgins, which would be evil ;) I personally do not believe it is providing lubrication for my chain, but others do. I don't worry about it too much.

Thank you, Br. Bob!  There are, at the very least, two brothers who sure are glad to know there will not be a chance that WIPERBIKEALOTIS will turn into a pandemic!!! WOWZAALOTIS!!!
