Caution: Prevent potentially serious injuries! Be sure all fasteners are secure before riding.
Tool Suggestion: Drill, 3/16” and 5/32” drill bits, Screw driver, open end wrench, Medium strength thread locker, Masking tape.
Procedure:
1. If numbers are to be painted, or decals installed, finish this step before assembly. Clear coat the decals on the number plate before proceeding with the installation.
Clean the number plate to remove all finger prints, oils, and dirt. Install one decal at a time allowing the first to dry before trying to install the second. Soak the decal briefly and float it onto the number plate and smooth out all bubbles. Water transfer decals are gelatin and are very fragile when wet. Handle them with care.
Adhesive back decals are easier to apply. However, care must be used in aligning the decal as it can not be re-positioned without damaging the decal.
2. Use masking, or painters tape to mark the center of the fender front the tip to a point near the forks.
3. Hold the number plate in place to determine to desired location on the fender and mark the tape where the front and rear hardware fittings will be placed. The number plate will stand about ¼” above the fender so the drilled hardware locations will be adjusted accordingly. The two marks should be 9” apart.
4. Center punch the correct location and drill a 3/16” hole in the fender. Check the location and drill the second 3/16” hole. Remove the tape.
5. Remove the clamp screws from the fittings, and install the fittings on the fender.
6. Place the number plate in the fittings and mark the location for two 5/32” holes in the number plate. They may be drilled at this time.
7. Install all the fitting screws with medium strength thread locker.
8. Re-install the front wheel.
