My name is Phil Waters, I'm the owner of Pride Of Cleveland Scooters in Sunny (°8) Cleveland, Ohio. After 18 years of selling scooters while riding everything from mid 60's BSA's and Triumph to a run of Urals and Dnepr's I've decided to give RE a shot.

I'll be the first to admit, seeing the write up in Cycle World the other day got my attention, and I'm sure Tait has got his hands full with dealer inquiries. I read the article and I actually thought "everyone who works at my shop has a vintage bike, everyone we ride with owns a vintage bike. Why don't we start selling vintage bikes (other than the ones that come in on trade)?.

RE seems like a good fit, but I'd like to hear from current owners,

1- What do you feel is the most important repair part / assembly a dealer can keep in stock?

2- What are the most important Accessories we should stock as a dealer?

3- What aren't you getting from your current dealer that you think is missing?

Looking forward to meeting you guys, and if any of you want to get in touch with me at the Indy Dealer Expo the guys at the Genuine Scooters / Scooterworks booth will have my number.

Howdy Phil!  Will I be seeing you at WKRP again this year?

I think that you'll find the most important parts  & accessories to carry will be very similar to your scooter biz.
of course, the "wear items" are important - cables, oil filters, bulbs, etc... As for Repairs... only time will tell with the UCE's.. for older models perhaps head gaskets and that sprag clutch thing, a nice assortment of sprockets.. ignition bits.. I haven't had a single "repair" needed on my '07 iron yet, so I don't know what to say.

Accessories... seats, windshields, grips, tail lights, luggage, chrome bits. 7" headlight conversions. exhausts.

My dealer is AWESOME. My only wish is that he wasn't 100 miles away.
I know that if you bring the same dedication to Enfield as you do your scooter biz, you'll be great at them.

cheers,

Hey Phil,
I'm a big fan of CMW. They always help me get the part I need and are friendly experts on the phone. This is important to me because I don't live near a dealer (700 miles away) .My dealer has helped me do some basic trouble shooting over the phone and helps anyway he can long distance. So yes I receive very good support.

Phil, I own Vince's Motorcycle Store in Olympia Wa. Call me at 866-VINCEMC-
1-866-846-2362. You are asking some good questions but there is much more to talk about. I would be happy to go over things with you to help you help your business and your customers.
I really want good Enfield dealers. In the campfire section a gentleman -Joe28- has a problem with his dealer. I hate to hear of this kind of negativity. It is not good for the community.
     Please call me.

1} Sprag clutch replacement for the electric start system
2)Free flow exhaust systems. Jet assortment. Free flow air filters. Premium cables. Chains. 18 tooth and 19 tooth gearbox output sprockets. Kickstart pawl, stop, and spring. Gasket sets. Helicoils. Hardened cylinder head washers. Fuses. Oil filters. 1.25" I.D. rad hose to replace intake manifold rubber hose. Blue Loctite. Tires. Tubes. Bulbs. Points and condenser for older Bullets.
Probably the most popular dress-up stuff is solo seat, 7" headlight kit, bar-end mirrors, Smith's replica speedo, small "bullet-style" turn signals.
3)Others may answer that. I do my own work.

Hi POCphil,  This^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is a good advice. Vince should be a god information resource. He has been successfully keeping his customers happily rolling along for 30 years or so.
No matter where you go, there, you are.
