Greetings my fellow Enfielders,

Please watch this clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjZJfr2QkZA

I am very happy to share with you the news of the promising first fire-up of my 5 year long project: a 700cc V-twin Enfield engine. Sketched, designed, CAD modeled, built the patterns in the wood shop myself, did get the castings poured at a proper foundry, machined the whole thing myself too. This is the short version of the story -- lots of obstacles on the way, will tell more later. If you guys are wondering WHY DO IT, the Carberry's already there, well, I had a lot of effort and dreaming put in already, and I decided to go ahead anyway for the sheer enjoyment and learning experience. As it turned out, the Carberry, gorgeous though it is, is well beyond what I can afford. The video is not great quality, but please watch it on the "high quality" setting, turn up the sound and bass. More later, next step is installing in the frame, waiting for warmer weather and test riding!"
Thanks for watching!

It's got a lovely growl to it. Sounds almost like an old flathead. What do you want to bet you'll have a lot of requests from other RE owners to build them one? You may have a new cottege industry on your hands.

The more I watch the video, the more I see.  It appears to be a wet sump? Or is that an external oil tank on the right?  Are there two sets of points in stock RE distributor housing?  Very cool.

I must retreat to my place of Zen and meditate on this.

Utterly remarkable.  I haven't been this excited about a motorcycle since my first one.  Spittin' flames and everything!

Very exciting.  How well does that engine fit in a stock frame?  It looks to me like the frame will have to be extended and radically modied to fit the v-twin engine.

So many questions!
Is that an oil "tank" under the crankcase or is it wet sump?
RE oil pump?
Primary transmission?
Clutch?
A look inside the timing cover would be great
When you have time, a more detailed description would be much appreciated.

I'd imagine with the full pipes that sucker would have a great low-end bass sound too.  Damn that is killer.  Nice stuff!!!

Awesome!

I think your next project should be a 700cc parallel twin. Once installed in a Bullet, you can call it the "700 Nitro Express".  8)

Bulletwalla,

First of all, I bow to you.

Will India get those engines too. Please say YES man. Meanwhile, what about the pricing.
