I was getting ready to grind down the ends of my center stand when a friend looked under there.  He popped out the rubber bumper and the stand went up about 2 inches- parallel to the ground.  !Yahoo!  Glued a piece of innertube in there just to prevent rattling.

Anyone having the same problem might try that...

Yup,  I pulled my rubber bumper after I got a side stand and could see how low that thing hung down..  Just looked odd.

I'm gonna look into that this weekend.  Thanks for the suggestion.  There's this turn and immediate steep hill on my street that I scrape every time.  Of course, I wouldn't scrape if I took it slower, but it's so much fun to take it fast that I just can't help it.

The danger is that if you hit hard enough, the rear wheel will lift off and you'll low-side.
I did that twice in one day once.  Whacked the same knee twice.  Gosh that hurt...

Yes, but what do I do about that brake pedal scraping on those ultra-sharp right turns?

I thought scrape-marks were a badge of honor!

Of course I don't ride as hard as I used to, but after scrapping the center stand a few times I raised the spring tension on the rear shocks one notch. It worked for my riding style.

I was in the local RE dealer the other day drooling over a white 2009 Bullet and was concerned  about the lowness of the center stand and the salesman said that they were all that way. Glad to hear that it is a easy fix.
I am a newbie to the RE, last Brit  bike I owned was a BSA 650 back in 1966.
