Does anyone know of a vintage headlight switch for the casquette that can be installed where the ignition switch currently resides? There's always original Lucas headlight switches available on eBay, but I don't know which, if any, would fit the existing ignition switch hole.

I'm in the process of turning the clock back on my Bullet Deluxe by completely undoing all the damage wrought by the Madras factory since 1955.  ;D

You can purchase one through our hosts. The Bullets up to about 1999 had the headlight switch on the cassette and the ignition switch was located in the left hand tool box where the rubber plug is. Give them a call. I'm sure they have the part in stock.

I checked with CMW a couple of months ago and they didn't have one and told me they don't normally stock this item. But I'll go ahead and check with them again.

Kevin:  I'm looking to purchase one, too.  With the diesel conversion (KS only) and a set of the old style levers, it would be good to have.

All that is left is to figure out how to handle the turn signals.

I purchased the switch from CMW about 5 months ago.....it is part number 140844.  I think it was under $15.  I used it to make a mold and imbedded the key into it.  It looks real sharp.

Simply put, there are things of his that we like and things of ours that he likes. We each sell to each other. We special order things from him all the time. If it is an item that we don't stock our "special order" policies apply. Once we get it, sending it back is prohibitive unless it is defective. This rarely happens as he is a first rate supplier.
We try to keep our prices close to what you would pay by the time the exchange rate is done, overseas shipping, commissions from your credit card company to exchange currencies etc are taken into consideration. Doesn't always work out as we use an average exchange rate not a daily one. In other words call and ask.

The number given are factory OEM numbers and are not unique to Hitchcoks catalog. These switches are sold under many numbers though. They are way obsolete so most of them are found on the secondary market. While Jim would have been the right person to call he is now working on the AsianIron.com side of the business and Travis has taken his place. He or Tim can get the switch or get it from Allan. (Of course I prefer that we get your business, but Allen is also a very good supplier.)

I just measured my switch #140844 (Minda reproduction purchased from CMW) and found that the diameter of the hole it would fit into would be 42.75 mm or 43mm.  It also has two notches at 12 and 3 oclock that fit into tabs which presumably prevent the assembly from rotating in the hole as the switch is turned.  So, what is the diameter of ignition switch hole on the nacelle of the more modern bikes?

I'll give Travis or Tim a call next week when I get back from travel. I'll also measure the hole in the nacelle then.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.
