Hello folks,
Both the brake and clutch lever were broken of halfway on my 1995 Bullet when I bought it recently.  Got good advice before to search on ebay and I've been following for the last month and checking the ebay stores and no luck finding any lever blades that fit my 4sp KS.

Can I replace the brake and clutch lever assemblies on my 1995 KS fourspeed with these from later Bullet models?:
http://store.royalenfieldusa.com/aftermarket-parts-accessories/grips-controls/oem-kickstart-brake-control-1
http://store.royalenfieldusa.com/aftermarket-parts-accessories/grips-controls/oem-kickstart-clutch-control-1
These are only $46 for the pair and they show up on ebay a lot too, but they are apparently for 1999 and later only.  They don't have the kill switch and turn signals, etc., built in like my 1995 KS brake/clutch controls do, so that would have to be solved, or could I just use the kill switch/turn signal switch as they're installed on the bar now, and then mount these $46 lever let behind the assemblies?  Not ideal but would it work?

Since only the levers are broken and the housing is fine, I want to replace the levers blades only but in the CMA catalog they only list the full assemblies that are redundant for me and they're pretty costly:
http://store.royalenfieldusa.com/aftermarket-parts-accessories/grips-controls/oem-kickstart-brake-control
http://store.royalenfieldusa.com/aftermarket-parts-accessories/grips-controls/oem-kickstart-clutch-control
$106 & $329 means $435 just to replace a couple broken lever blades.  If that's the only way, I'm tempted to brake and clutch with the stubs as they, crummy as that would be.

Would this vintage control set work on my 1995 ks four speed?
http://store.royalenfieldusa.com/aftermarket-parts-accessories/grips-controls/vintage-style-control-set

Should I try to get someone to tig weld the broken lever blades back together?

Thanks.

The pre- 6/99 controls are not made anymore and are just going to keep going up in price.
If I ever broke one of mine I would replace them with some generic ones or something like the vintage set that CMW sells.
You can use the later OEM controls too though you will have to adapt the wiring somehow.
The controls on my 01 are pretty good and show up on e-bay pretty cheep.

So would I just use the assemblies I have with kill switch/turn signals, slide them up the bar a little ways and install the later OEM levers behind them?  The later OEM levers do not have any switches.

What electrical lines would I need to adapt?  The later OEM clutch lever has only the cable and housing so that would be easy to adapt.  The later OEM KS brake lever has an electrical cable as well as the brake cable/housing--what is that electrical connection on the KS brake lever?

Can anyone point me to photos that show the details of a handlebar with the later OEM set up?  Maybe I should get whatever switch pods go with the later OEM levers?

Does the vintage control set I linked to have the necessary kill switch and turn signals and other necessary signals?

Thanks.

To go to the newer style you should probably replace the whole mess.
The older ones used bullet connectors and after 6/99 they changed that so some wiring work will have to be done.
There are switches such as the ducon or tricon that you can use with "vintage controls" that will take care of at least horn, dipper and kill.
Not many vintage bikes had turnsignals so it's hard to find something  that "fits" with the vintage scheme to fill that bill.

CMW did have a kit with all the stuff to convert to the later kick-only controls. You might want to give them a call.

Thanks for all the ideas.
Buckeye, do you have a link for that CMA kit?
Talked to them on the phone and the price they quoted for the conversion kit was $259.
They said this was a different kit than the Vintage control kit.  I ordered it, but when I see the email confirming the sale, my CMA receipt says I ordered the Vintage Control Kit, with the part number for the vintage control kit.
So I don't know what's on the way, exactly but have to assume it's the vintage control kit and will have to send it back, possibly, for the proper kit I ordered.
Glad you mention a post99 kit, Buckeye, because that's what I ordered, or tried to.

Read in the archives that some folks don't like the quality level of the vintage control kit. Also, from the very small photo on the CMA site, it looks doubtful that the vintage kit has a hi-lo (dip) switch, turn signal switch (not a vintage thing) or kill switch, or horn switch?  Maybe there's a decompression switch, or maybe not?

Anybody done a conversion kit from CMA with either the post99 controls or the vintage control kit?

Thanks.  That gives me a good idea how my pre-99 controls are different.

Thanks, good idea.  Didn't see the controls on your link which links to a Royal Enfield search; did a search on that plus controls and didn't come up with much.

Thanks T120.

Thanks for all the information and help on this forum.

Will have more questions when I try to install the electrical connections since there are different plug fittings pre- and post- 1999, as was mentioned.
