i have the #'s VA71928 stamped on the motor.  has a single amal carb, two cylinders....the first letter might be a Y, not a V..

help, pleaz

The List I have has VA prefix and VAX prefix engine numbers for USA production Constellations and Interceptors respectively in 1959 & 60. They were 700cc (692cc actual). The problem is that the number doesn't match up. The YA prefix is for the later 62-63 736cc Interceptor models. The number doesn't match them either. I have heard of a Gallaxy model though and have no info on their serial number but it could be VA and they were single carb models. Your best bet would be to contact the Royal Enfield Owners Club UK. They have a machine dating service.

Check out Burton's Bike Bits web-site for Interceptor registry information. If its is YA it might be in that catagory.
