This is why Europe is in the pathetic state that it's in. However, it looks like there is hope for the various freedom movements to get the EU jack boot off everyone's throats.

I have to agree with ACE on the politicization of global warming.

As a point of fact, the U.S. had its coldest April in more than 20 years and the past few winters have been below average in regards to temperature and well above average (in many areas) in precipitation.

Climate change doesn't equal global warming or that every year will necessarily be hotter than the next. For example, the average temperature of the United States was below 20th century historical averages in recent years.

While carbon emissions may have an effect on the planets climate, it is far from proven fact that the warming is/has been anything other than the normal cycles of climate on our planet.

Sorry for the hijack but sometimes the information being fed to society is covered in political rhetoric and motives.

I'm guessing your opinion isn't swayed by the fact you sell equipment that makes vehicles more polluting? I'm fairly sure that the 10000 folk who die from pollution related disease in London each year might vote the other way. Green house gasses are heating the planet up. The 4 hottest years on record were the last 4 years and it's getting hotter. It's currently 45C in France at the moment.

I tried to ignore your comment but failed, sorry. :-X

Short answer: Cheap shot. Why does a leftist have to bring a lie every time?

You are all forgetting the essence of your pseudo religion. It's called man made global warming. Dr Ian Plimer has published "Heaven and Earth - global warming: the missing science". Plimer has been under attack from the goons at Google. They take his work seriously. The google gang wants him destroyed so badly they have altered their search engine to attack him, not search him. Why lie if you are telling the truth?

In the US, Congress finances pseudo science through the National Science Foundation. Low end bureaucrats who are having difficulty cashing in their academic credentials are the favorite grant receivers of NSF. They are well paid to lie.

All the Euros here, have you ever heard of the Battle of Clontarf in 1014? Have you made a study of Brian Boru's tactics of troop movements and feeding the troops? The Irish couldn't have that army in that location and fed them if Ireland wasn't warmer than it is today. Do anyone of you know that the Danes southern port was Dublin, Ireland? The Danes were sailing all over the top of the world in wooden boats that today you need ice breakers. Lots of cow farts and dirty motorcycles then? That's an inconvenient truth.

According authorities, the world was going to end in 2012. Now, the world is going to end in 12 more years. Shades of Piltdown Man are here.

When Plimer was interviewed by Dennis Prager, Dennis asked Dr Plimer if anyone from the other side has debated him? Not really. They only call him names. No one from the other side has ever discussed the science of global warming. If the man made guys are right, why do they avoid the subject of climate science?

Are there long term variations in the global climate? History and science say yes. Is man made global warming the cause? Tyrants around the globe are waiting for credible evidence so they won't have to keep lying to sink us all into their socialist dream tax rates with them and their government in place as the new god.

The Sun and its process of solar fusion is the ultimate power source of Earth. I have not heard one single man made global warming advocate ever explain solar fusion, or even mention it. There are plenty of quotes about cow farts.

".....the fact you sell equipment that makes vehicles more polluting?" Name one. Are you going to tell me precisely why this ignition with an iridium spark plug will not burn more completely and cleanly than the stock one?

ACE has helped more people with their Royal Enfield bikes than anyone on this forum, on the ACE Motors yahoo site and maybe anywhere else. Do a search if you don't believe it. RE has never expressed a word of thanks. Modding a RE is more about engine efficiency than expanding pollution. Trueing a crank that the RE factory didn't set up properly is an example of getting more power by increasing efficiency. Efficiency makes performance better, partly by more complete combustion. That's means cleaner, not more polluting. Stay on the forum. You can get better motorcycle info here than most other places. Thanks, ACE.

Cheers,

Have you ever been to Europe??? I'd say we have a far better standard of living compared to most Americans. I'll quickly say I've worked for American companies and also travelled extensively round America - we get quite a lot of holiday over here so it's relatively easy for us to travel about. Any quality of life report will show you where America stands compared to most countries. We do have poor folk, like anywhere else, but here they are looked after. In the States I was quite shocked by the number of families living in tents or the back of vans. Healthcare is another big advantage to those in Europe but not having adequate health care in the States can be a death sentence. Personal safety is another big win for Europe, I live in London where knife crime is a big issue at the moment but I still feel perfectly safe walking across the park at night or indeed anywhere in the city. That also brings us to your prison population - you have more people in prison than any other country on Earth. I don't think it's me that's drinking the cool aid.

Sorry for the hijack but sometimes the information being fed to society is covered in political rhetoric and motives.
The American way of life requires huge amounts of oil to keep it going. At the moment you're getting that oil from Canadian tar sands. Unfortunately extracting the oil is very harmful to the environment. This is why Trump pulled out of the Paris climate talks. I suppose you can either believe Trump or NASA on climate change.

Mike,

It appears to me that all you want to do is distribute your leftist agenda and disdain for the United States.

You bounce around from comments on "global warming" to standard of living to the homeless in the US and even the number of days off you get.

Pretty clear that you have your agenda and no amount of factual information will alter it.

Thankfully we have a saying here in America that the silent majority decides who will govern this country and NOT the far left fringe liberals who are spewing the same sort of socialist rhetoric that you are.

...
I looked up Dr Ian Plimer - the google entry states "Ian Rutherford Plimer is an Australian geologist, professor emeritus of earth sciences at the University of Melbourne, previously a professor of mining geology at the University of Adelaide, and the director of multiple mineral exploration and mining companies". I'm guessing he might not be the most impartial judge then ;)

I totally agree with you here and I learn a lot from his input. That doesn't mean I have to blindly agree with every single thing he says though.

First off, I'm far from leftist. In fact the American company I worked for was Goldman Sachs so that probably gives you a picture of where I stand on the political spectrum. I was simply stating why Europe might not be a failed system and why America is certainly not the ideal that Europeans aspire to. My apologies if that comes as a shock. You were stating that climate change is a myth and I was just pointing out why it might be in your interests to understand what the rest of the world is so worried about. I hoped the NASA link I gave on climate change might be more believable to you as it was from your best American scientists.

Come on guys, we're getting off topic here.
2020 is bringing changes, not everyone likes them, but i find some good points:
The bike looks good, details like the brake pedal, the rear lights, etc, look a lot better.
The new frame will bring better handling.
The new engine will get obd2, which means it will be easier to tune.
Overall quality will be better.
Plus the new platform means new models, which in my book is a good thing.

Mike,

I never claimed that climate change was a myth, I questioned if global warming is in fact a threat to the Earths climate.

I really don't concern myself with what the people of Europe aspire to and I never said anything about Europe being a failed system.

As far as what might be in my best interests, I'm pretty confident that I have done more research and study on global climate than the average citizen in either the US or Europe.

Lastly, I have found that scientific results from government run entities such as NASA don't always portray the findings in a manner that is not influenced by the current political mores.

It seems to me that, in your responses, you just want to present your agenda without carefully considering what an individual actually said.

Oh and by the way, you are correct that you don't have to agree with everything Ace says.

But to take a cheap shot and presume to understand his motivations does, in my view, cross a line.

I suspect folk are bored of the subject so I'll stop. I don't think anything I said was incorrect but my apologies if anything came across as a cheap shot, it wasn't meant to be.

I don't know if we have any past luminaries of the Oxford Union debating society or the Union of Concerned Scientists who throw their legs over an Enfield lurking on this Forum who might competently cast a clear and knowledgeable light on these "Big Issues" getting everyones' panties in a knot. Seems unlikely. Maybe over on the Volvo forums...

Sure, I'm just another ill-informed sound bite spoon fed dumbass, but I am certain I'm on firm ground standing with our man Bill (a.k.a. "Guaire") in believing that it just ain't right or true to be calling out Ace as being some alleged contributor to any large scale planetary woes and somehow profiteering from the fact that it's cooler today in Death Valley than downtown Marseille. If anything, Ace's work has only improved  the efficiency of our old gurkens. He helped me and didn't ask a penny. His improvements to the breed are net "goods," whatever your take on the climate, politics, those black helicopters, whether flouride in the water damaged that secret Glenn Beck sex cyborg allegedly kept in the White House basement nowadays just for Jared to play pinochle with, or what have you. Seriously, some of you guys sound like you're somewhere to the right of Darth Vader or devotees of tin foil headwear, and I look forward to discussing all of your trenchant revelations some June at the biannual Royal Enfield North American shindigs in Oley, Pennsylvania around a campfire, especially once those "Men of the North" break out that homemade stuff from Newfoundland that makes your pee glow in the dark. In the meantime, please lay off Ace or any other ad hominem snarks, OK bitches?

Please.... No one is god here.  ::)   If someone makes an unprovoked,   offensive statement about ones country , continent or political beliefs you get what you get.    Take it to campfire talk with the rest of the radicals....  This is where we enjoy our SHARED beliefs !

BTW, the C-5 frames crack in that one lower right hand section of the frame.... because the frame in that area, is weakly supported. And even more so when the lower rear motor mount nut looses up.        The G-5's , which had MUCH better support down there on the frame , did not have a problem with frame cracking.

All I was trying to do was spread information about an upcoming change to the 500 single engine and this thread somehow shit the bed on itself, lol. Come on Guys, really? If we are headed for another earth wide tropical change or another ice age (As the earth has been bouncing back and forth from each extreme for eons and will continue to do so long after we are dust) is of no consequence here. Let's just collect all of our hurt feelings and pride and go about the business at hand. I am not trying to be a dick here or sway one way or the other, because honestly, I don't care. I am just attempting to stop the crap show.

Interesting. I'm not up on my subspecies of UCEs, but this sounds like something that wouldn't be out of place on some "What to look for when buying a Bullet made after 2010" or "Know Your Different UCE Models" FAQ.

Any particular parts of a 2005 "Iron Belly" 5-speed frame that you know of that might warrant special attention?

I have never heard of any frame cracks on any iron barrel Bullet. But I have found the footpeg metal to be soft and easily bent if you stand on them.
