My vote is for a Lycett style saddle. I had one on my C5 (and will be installing it on my 2003 Bullet.) Extremely comfortable, and looks great on the bike, too.

That's the one! I guess there are two different sizes, and it seems like the larger one is the more common one. That's the one I ended up with.

Regrettably, no. I was actually thinking about getting a leatherworker to custom make saddle covers for me in tan (to match the color scheme of the bike,) but decided against it since my bike lives outside. Ended up just buying a set on eBay in the same material the stock covers are made of.

I tried putting in an ebay link but it didn't work. There are sellers on ebay that have leather Lycett solo seats for the enfield. They are from India so I guess you take your chances.

The rear frame rails are higher with the later frame, so check the spring length. Also consider whether that vintage of frame actually has a front mounting point, the OEM seat fits directly onto the rear mudguard/fender loop.

Thanks for that i have already ordered a leather one from India so i will let everyone know how it goes although shipping is around monthe before i will get it.. Hopefully all good but i did ask them they said it would fit fine without any problems on my 1960 bullet... oh and i wanted leather as here in Spain plastic seat can be pretty painful LOL and

and to be honest i can't see a problem having to make something if necessery .. and you just stick to em!

In India the 1960 Bullets had the older-style frame, which they would continue with right up until the last pre-unit models. I have seen a later frame bike fitted with a sprung saddle, though it looks a little odd.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Don't sell the dual seat just yet, though.

I don't know how much the frames differ from 1960 to 2000 US import but if fit my 2000 frame, I used larger springs but other than that if fit fine. It looks better to me than the bench seat that came on it and it's comfortable.

I too bought the Indian Lycett saddle but found it way to big for my taste. So I lowered the frame 1 inch and narrowed the rear 1.5 inches. This gave more support to the covering since the spring suspension now actually spanned the whole seating area and the covering (which was modded also) keeps a nice shape. I also eliminated the big springs opting for rigid mounting with a hinge in the nose.
