Am really keen on the new trials bike. Just needs some better suspension. They are great looking bikes.

It is pretty cool and probably lots of fun, but it is not really much of a trials bike. It still looks like it will be 400lbs or so and that is a lot to maneuver. My trials bikes range from 154lbs to 204 for a big 250 4 stroke Honda from 1974. I know this is really more like a 1955 trials bike but even then, it is going to be lacking. I once rode an AJS/Matchless trials that weighed about 230lbs and had very light steering and felt very light, but it did have all kinds of custom parts. Anyway, cool bike and thanks for posting.

It is not going to be competitive in a real trials by any stretch of the imagination but could be a fun variant for recreational use.

There seems to be some confusion nowadays as trail bikes are more and more being called trials bikes, which they aren't - unless you count road trials which are not really the same thing.
As said previously, trials bikes are completely different animals.

Couldn't agree more - pia when you google trial and get trail bikes end up going Gas-Gas,  Beta,  Bultaco....... Looking for a used one probably end up with a farm bike (on 5ac) as hard to find,  want something to plod around on ????

dickim, I suggest you look for a used Yamaha TY250 or 350, or whatever was common in your neck of the woods. Nice ones are rather dear these days though.
They are simple, decent (the TY350 was state of the art in 1985), and parts are easy to come by. If you can find a Honda Reflex TLR200, they are bulletproof, super easy to ride and rather awful trials bikes in stock trim. But just an exhaust system change improves things dramatically.

I don't think RE is marketing as a competitive trials bike but as a street bike that looks like a trials bike. I would buy one.
