DC area people have two RE dealerships. One in Sterling, VA, out by Dulles Airport. The other one is closer in, Cycles of Silver Spring, (MD). CSS is offer a new 2017 for $3999. I know you guys in OZ land won't think much of this, but it is a good deal.

The local dealer has a 2017 Bullet in stock, I believe.  No budging on the price though.  Don't have space for another motorcycle anyway, but would love to get a Bullet to play with, although the Rumbler would still get the nod for longer trips due to the comfort factor.

When I was back east this past summer, I actually sat on that very bike, and was tempted at that time, (just couldn't figure out how to get it back to Alaska without spending a fortune).  That is a very good deal, and if I lived back there I would jump on it.

That would be a GREAT deal in Oz!  Just over A$5000.  Ride away price here for a new Bullet is  around A$8500

I called the dealer an hour ago, and I'm currently trying to get quotes on shipping it up here.  I suspect that it will still be too much, but I'm going to give it a try.

Riding 5000 miles cross country on a Bullet is, I think, a bit more than I'm up for.  Maybe if I didn't have a fulltime job.

I've done nearly around 1,500 miles in 6 days, across the Andes. That's plenty, and it was on a Rumbler which is a more comfortable (for me) bike to ride.  Still, the idea of a long haul with plenty of time to do it in has its appeal.

I know some have other opinions, and maybe the 2017 B5 has a different seat... but my 2011 B5's factory seat was only good for about 15 miles - like sitting on a block of wood.  The vibrations it transmitted to my body literally affected my ability to read road signs - it was that bad.  Based on that experience, there's no way I'd try any distance on that original seat...

Yes, Richard, when I said "others," I had you in mind!    An ass for every chair, etc... who knows about what the differences may be between our two seats - and our two asses!  I gotta say, though, once I replaced that OEM bench with a solo sprung Lycette copy, it became an all-day ride...

Fwiw, I sat on a B5 seat once and it was hard as a rock. I do recall wondering if they were all that way...

I am perfectly happy with my C5 seat, and am content to ride all day. Legs need stretching about every hour. Butterfly crash bar helps with that.
