  • Riding the Madrass Missile!
on: February 16, 2019, 06:50:00 pm
Stopping by my local RE dealer this afternoon to put a deposit on a Chrome (Glitter and Dust) Interceptor. Could be a few months before it comes in, but I will be at the top of the list when it does.   8)

Hanging on to Thai Bonnie until after I get my Gleaming Chennai Twin, then ride both until I can decide which one to keep! I only bought the T-100 to hold me over until the RE Twin came out, but it's been 3 years now and she has grown on me. :P  I have no doubt that the Bonneville has more refinement, but I have to give the Interceptor a chance!  ;)

Bholenath, the Madras Missile is of course, a keeper without question.  8) 8) 8)

Good for you! Only the chrome version would resolve my 60s teenage lust for the original.  ;)

Thanks Stanley!

Deposit is officially paid! Now it could take until May... ???

I didn't know how this would work, but it turned out to be a "special order", so when they are good and ready, they will be sending a chrome one just for me!  8)

Now to work as much o-t as possible for the next 3 months!  :P

I am going to get one as well. Am I the only one who thinks that $700 extra for a chrome tank is ridiculous? Total extortion pricing.

Yes, I do think the amount of the extra cost to get chrome is way too much! :(  I like orange a lot, and tried to go with the sensible option, but I had to have the chrome! :)  I hope that they at least did a really nice quality job, since it (the chrome option) is a top dollar price.  It is possible that the headlight bucket is metal since it is chrome, and maybe other parts as well which are plastic on the other models...maybe?  The emblem on the tank is spectacular too. Not on the other models. I really like that emblem! :)

Here is a video of one of, if not the first chrome one in India.  Not the greatest film quality, and I think it is hard to capture the presence of that chrome tank with a camera...but I like it! Interesting optional seat too. 8)

EDIT; My mistake, I'm seeing the orange ones have chrome headlight and tank emblem. Probably the black and silver too. I'll be ok,  I just need to calm down....

Congratulations GSS!  8)

Remember, if you park them side by side the chrome one may appear to magically become orange. :o Don't be fooled, it will just be the reflection!  ;) kind of like parking WildBill's camoflage bike next to a hedge! ;D

I'm thinking maybe add tank knee pads, maybe change black tank stripe color and / or add color to side and front of bike like an old chrome Interceptor or this Constallation?  ::)

That'd be sweet, I'd be a lot likelier to buy a Chrome bike if the fender were chrome as well and not painted plastic.

Yeah, I'm really trying to not let the fender thing bother me, but I would gladly pay more, even add them as an accessory if I could.   :(

My C5 Chrome has big beautiful chrome fenders which I'm quite fond of... More chrome all around too, and color, not just chrome and black... Oh well, as everyone is saying, it's a hell of a lot of bike for the price.  :)

Maybe they will become available later? If someone makes good ones, I would think they'd sell a ton of them!

Sooo ... the area painted to match the side covers on the 60's Chrome 700cc Constellation's seems to be a tank-mount/cable-cover plate that does not exist on the new 2019 Enfield's - although I suppose you could just create something similar looking, bolt it on, and paint it if you wanted to replicate the look:

A tank mount / cable cover plate could be made... It looks like there is enough room for one... I would have to see how it shakes out on the priority list!  ::)

My C5 tank has front plate built in.  Maybe could put a C5 tank on, but that would probably be sacrilegious!!!  :o  (I tried posting a picture as attachment, like I always do, but new forum arbitrarily would not accept it  :P)
