This isn't just RE's policy.
When the Indian Scout appeared at dealers, i visited three times just to SIT on one and was refused. Luckily my Lexus gave up the ghost and my money went into a car. Now they'd probably love me to stop by!

May be. I hear that Indian sales are slipping lately.

I did stop in at my dealership last week, and sat on the bikes again.....I had tried them at the NYC bike show........and though I love the look of that white GT, at 61 I am more comfortable on the Interceptor. But I did think about getting a GT and moving the footpegs 2" forward and raising the bars a couple of inches.......that would do it for me. But the rear brake is attached to the peg assembly so not as simple as it seems. BTW, they told me that they were not sent any keys with the bikes, which is really odd. But my buddy in FL has a dealer who claims the 650s have not yet received emissions cert., so that could be the delay.

The key thing is odd since the salesman here couldn't find the keys for the CGT they have for show only... ???

Can't stop dreaming of an Interceptor in my Royal Shed, next to my C5. They would (will?) look good together! 8)
Probably have to trade in my Bonnie though...  :'(

Sometimes it does happen that a manufacturer doesn't have all of their ducks in a row when displaying a new motorcycle.  In the fall of 2009 Brammo introduced their Enertia electric motorcycle and decided to sell them through the Best Buy stores.  That was until the great state of California found out about it.  And nixed the deal.  I think eventually they got approval to sell the bikes, but then realized that you couldn't sell a motorcycle like you would a big screen TV. Apparently motorcycle riders were not the same as TV couch potatoes and wanted more after-market service that the Geek Guys just couldn't provide.   ::)
