Currently I am using RE Standard 500cc with Carburetor fuel system. It has run 28,000 km and is in top notch condition.
Will it be justified to upgrade to RE 500 Standard EFI or keep the same?

I own both but I would say that generally the efi model is a positive move in every way.Gear box is vastly improved over the old model plus you get better brakes.Very pleased with mine,go and have a test ride at a dealer before making your decision.

Hi ssg and welcome to the forums.
I also own both and agree. The carbed models and the EFI are both a blast.

CC's aside, everything you'd ever want to improve inside the old engine comes as standard with the new one  :)
Never underestimate the value of improved combustion efficiency and reducing parasitic engine and rolling chassis losses.

I've got both and I'm so glad I have, yesterday I gave the old girl a blast around the block and it is such a joy to feel the difference between the two, so if you can afford it keep the old"un and enjoy the modern equivalent.

ssg -- looks like you're seeing endorsements for owning both generations.  You can stick your toe in the 500cc UCE water inexpensively with my extra 2010 C5 1,885 miles $1,000 located in Wake Forest, NC.  Pay it off at $50/month.  I have a 2016 C5; I don't need a second C5.  Plus I really need to get it out of the previous owner's garage.

Oops just got a note from SSG he's not in the US so not in the market for my 2010 C5.  But having two motorcycles is still good.  I just don't need two of the same.

You're right wildbill.  I've been procrastinating.  I'm listing it on eBay now.  $1,000 starting bid.  Buy it now $2,000.  Buyer arranges pickup and shipping.  14-day return.  Can't be registered in CA until 7,500 miles or January 2020.

The previous owner has been very patient but I really need to get it out of his garage.

I have to recommend against the EFI model. It is the only RE I have ever owned, and I think the UCE engine is an improvement over the Iron Barrel as far as reliability goes, but the EFI is not so great. I replaced mine with an Amal carburetor using a kit from Hitchcocks in the UK. It runs 100% better and no longer has the reliability issues that go with the EFI setup. And if something should go wrong with the carb, it can be removed and disassembled beside the road. But really, the only thing that can really go wrong with a carb is it might get plugged up, and a filter will prevent that. Eventually the float needle valve will wear out, but it will last many years, and even if it starts to leak, it will not likely strand you on the road. If you run out of gas with the EFI model, it will likely destroy the $500 fuel pump. I ran out of gas on purpose a couple of times (while carrying extra gas) on my carb setup just to see what it's true range was. Also, the EFI model comes with a huge, heavy, and way too quiet exhaust with a catalytic converter in it that you would probably want to replace with something smaller, lighter, and better sounding.

I would only consider a UCE bike if carbed. The newer front brake, oiling, lower end bearings and gearbox are sweet, but tales of EFI issues put me off.

Speaking of carburetors, I was told the other day by a BMW salesman that California is considering prohibiting the sale of carb rebuild kits, after-market carbs and replacement jets.  Apparently someone believes that motorcycles using carburetors are a source of our state's pollution and should be banished from the Great People's Empire of Kalifornia, that wants to be the leader of the Green World.   >:(

I would believe the phase-in of 2020 CARB motorcycle emissions testing would be enough for them.

I just wandered in here from the Iron Barrelled Old Folks Home. Take the test drive. Take LOTS of test drives. Go to the teahouse mentioned previously in these forums and turn RIGHT at the Teahouse. Come to the 'Bikes and Breakfast' shindig in Clifton, VA in America and say hello to a Triumph with Elephant Man (The) or Sri Ganesah s.v.p. on the fender. We welcome you.
