I have to recommend against the EFI model. It is the only RE I have ever owned, and I think the UCE engine is an improvement over the Iron Barrel as far as reliability goes, but the EFI is not so great. I replaced mine with an Amal carburetor using a kit from Hitchcocks in the UK. It runs 100% better and no longer has the reliability issues that go with the EFI setup. And if something should go wrong with the carb, it can be removed and disassembled beside the road. But really, the only thing that can really go wrong with a carb is it might get plugged up, and a filter will prevent that. Eventually the float needle valve will wear out, but it will last many years, and even if it starts to leak, it will not likely strand you on the road. If you run out of gas with the EFI model, it will likely destroy the $500 fuel pump. I ran out of gas on purpose a couple of times (while carrying extra gas) on my carb setup just to see what it's true range was. Also, the EFI model comes with a huge, heavy, and way too quiet exhaust with a catalytic converter in it that you would probably want to replace with something smaller, lighter, and better sounding.
