Footrest position

Should the footrest angle rise up directly off the stud, as I can only get mine to go forward to the next position . The right side the gearbox prevents the footrest from being upright, and the left side I would need to pack the footrest out with washers to avoid the chain case. What is the normal factory position?

The USA versions rotate up and back at about a 45 degree angle.  Are your foot pegs reversed from right to left?
