Well, all is fair and love and war. Take a look at what Mahindra and Pininfarina, the Italian design house that they purchased, have done with Jawa! A direct shot at the Classic Chrome in Royal Maroon and if you scroll down they actually ARE releasing a classic Bobber with monoshock, although although it is only 343cc. Still, a nice looking effort all around.
When Mahindra/Classic Legends shows their BSA hand, with the rumored single in the 600 to 750CC range, it should be damn interesting.

They are totally missing their own Jawa boat!

The 500cc OHC 4-valve single Jawa Speedway engine with 75 hp at 10500 rpm. Put that sucker in a new classic BSA platform with a good 6-speed gearbox and watch heads turn!

Well I know we each have our own take on this, but it is not all about horsepower.............and if it were, we would not be on Royal Enfields.

I've ridden a speedway bike, a wild JAP 2 speeder on methanol. I can't imagine that thirsty, cammy beast on the road without some detuning. The smell of castor would be sweet.
An Eso might be better, though, except for Euro 5.

I've had enough Bobbers for this lifetime thank you, but I find the two retro models to be very handsome, especially the ruby colored one.  Not crazy about the water cooling or lack of a kick starter but this is the world we live in now.  A six speed gearbox?  That's interesting as are the other specifications.  I'll be watching.  And why not.  It looks like a cool old bike.

Yes, detuned some for sure.
Still a hot number.

I like the look of the new Jawa 42 but with only 300cc it just seems a little too small. I appreciate it probably goes the same as my 500 Classic but the engine size doesn't really appeal to me. I do understand it being perfect for India though. I also rather liked the speedo in the headlamp (like the RE Classic) that they have on one of their models but not the 42. I'd also of preferred to have seen a shaft drive like they had on earlier Jawa's. Does anyone know why it's called 42?

I watched some videos and I believe they said Jawa used to name their bikes for the year they were introduced. So this one is probably sort of a copy of a 42. And there 300 has nowhere near the torque of a 500 so probably not as fast. Be interesting to see if they let Jawa compete with their BSA line when it comes out, or if Jawa will be the smaller displacement line and BSA the big boy of the lineup.

The precursor of the maroon Jawa was a brilliant little 2-stroke machine.  Very underpowered but unbreakable.

Gear shifter was brilliant....push in at fulcrum and it would flip over to turn into the kickstarter!  Also had an auto declutch built in.....except for starting or stopping, or in slower traffic, you could change gears without pulling in the clutch lever.

My prediction is that quality will surpass our experiences with the C5 and GT. It never had a very large cult following unlike the RE and HD.....should do very well in the marketplace though.

Would certainly try one or wait for a Wildbill review if it shows up in the US or Australian market  :)

Hell, if they just badged them "Mahindra" I'd like them every bit as much. What I really  like is that 1.5 lakh price point mentioned, or roughly just 2 Grand Americano. For that little, in this country, hell yes I'd give any  of those three scoots at least a test ride, though I really favor that red one. Even at just 293cc with 27 horses and a 6-speed box it seems like they'd likely hold their own with a Bullet 500, cruising in the 50s, which would suit my needs well enough.

I'd love to see one actually running and going through its paces.

So badass my Enfield's actually illegal  in India. Yet it squeaks by here in Virginia.

Bit emotionless attempt to recreate what Jawa once was. What's the difference in mfrg cost between 500cc piston or 300cc. Styling is off too, bottom line of the tank really should be horizontal otherwise all the lines just don't make sense. The headlight is too high in the air. And why not making an OHC twin for the export market too and please incl. the shaft drive for the valve train.

The bobber looks just awful....RE got the styling right.  Maybe a close look at this pic. would have been useful.

Apparently, the Jawas are for the Indian market and the coming BSAs, which will be larger displacement, are going to be for the export markets, Europe and the USA. I can't WAIT to see the new BSA models. I like the look of that maroon Jawa just fine!
