In my never ending search for the perfect riding gear, about 10 years ago I bought the waxed cotton Falstaff from Aerostich. It has all the features of their Darien jacket but with the old school look and feel of cotton. It also has a great looking plaid inner liner. It comes with shoulder and elbow padding and I added the optional back protector. What it boils down to is a jacket that weighs a ton, is hot in summer in spite of the vents, and is cold in winter. With the added benefit of sucking dirt right out of the air. Even in the closet. You will look so cool in this dirt encrusted uncomfortable jacket that people will be sure you just came back from a round the world ride and not just a trip to the pub!

Never again. Waxed cotton belongs on the trash heap of history. And you know why you have to re-coat the thing with wax? Because the wax comes off on everything. Your bike, your walls, your furniture, and anything else that you might brush up against.
