Hi Guys,
Just a couple of questions on setup of a 1995 Bullet 500, the bike is new to me.
The carb has standard jets at 110 and 25, but not sure if the needle is standard - has 40H7 (or maybe 4DH7) on it and is set at the bottom groove (highest needle setting). Is this the correct needle and a standard setting or starting point?
If it makes any difference the bike lives at 350m above sea level and will mainly be ridden in the warmer months - 18c to 35c.

Also the bike has a Boyer ignition fitted and is running an NGK BKR6EKPB 11 Platinum plug, does anyone know if this is right when running a Boyer or should I run the standard NGK BR8ES ?

Thanks in advance, Geoff.

B8ES.

We need to know what muffler and what air filter you have, in order to make accurate jetting advice.

Assuming you have 28mm Mikarb.
110 is way too lean for a main jet at your elevation. 25 might be okay for a pilot jet if you have a stock exhaust and filter. We need a bit more info.

Ace knows his stuff.  I am at 5,290 ft and with the 110 main and 25 pilot jets, my ride would only idle and bog down at 1/4 throttle.

Yes guys, standard micarb, exhaust and air filter.

So a B8ES with a Boyer?  The platinum plug unnecessary?   I got the BR8ES recommendation from Pete Snidal's manual.

The bike is not on the road yet, a few jobs to do before registration.  Just looking for a good starting point.

Thanks again, Geoff.

B8ES for suppressor plug caps, BR8ES for non-suppressor caps, though Champion N4C or RN4C might be better. Some modern electronics are sensitive to ignitions with no suppression at all.

4DH7 is the stock needle that comes with the MiCarb.
