My brother just sent me these photos of a group of 650 riders that visited Alice's Restaurant, located south of San Francisco, recently.  It looks to me that they might be magazine reviewers testing out the bikes under the scrutiny of RENA.  I am not sure if that is my favorite color combination, though.

The Media Rides are happening between the 24th and 26th i suppose. There are a couple of first ride reports by indian Auto magazines  on Youtube already for the Int650 only as Day one was reserved only for Interceptor. The CGT reviews should be out anytime now. That engine sure sounds sweet  :-*

The mouth that motored was running all the time. Just about zero time of the sound of the Interceptor.

@ 1.42, Heat shields on the throttle bodies to protect the rider - nearly sh@t myself laughing with that one.
Never underestimate the value of improved combustion efficiency and reducing parasitic engine and rolling chassis losses.

Today I rode my Zero electric motorcycle from my home in Pacifica to Big Basin State Park and returned via the coast highway, a trip of 150  miles.  I arrived home with the battery pack showing 0%.

While riding into Big Basin SP, three groups of riders passed me coming out of the park.  It looked and sounded like they were all riding new Triumph Thruxtons with the same color white tank, which I thought was kind of odd. After arriving at the Park I was approached by a British rider who asked me about my Zero and then mentioned that he was in a group of journalists who were riding the new Royal Enfield 650 Continental GT and asked me if I wanted to see the bike.  Naturally I said yes! I took some photos with my cell phone camera, some of which actually came out. One of them had a chrome tank, the rest had white tanks with a red stripe. I have emailed the photos to myself, but they haven't arrived yet.  When they do, I will post them here. The bikes really look and sound great, although the mufflers are kind of large and stick out quite a bit. It is going to be tough installing saddlebags on the GT with those mufflers in the way.

I sat on one and it felt pretty solid. The clutch pull is about average and the seating position with the low bars is not bad. Much better than the Thruxton, as an example. I could see myself buying one, especially at the advertised price in the U.S.

I watched as the riders took off up the highway that I came down, heading for lunch at Alice's Restaurant.  As I was leaving the Park, two more groups of GT riders passed by. I would guess that I saw about 40 GT riders today. It appears that RENA is really trying to make a statement with the new 650 models.  Now all they need are more dealers. We should be seeing a lot of 650 reviews all over the World soon.  :)

Sounds good, although at 7000rpm it ought to have about 70 horses, and of course the ABS has to make way for a double disc brake.  ;) ;D

I love the look of these new bikes, especially the orange ones. Their lack of power does not bother me at all. If I had one it would still not be a freeway bike. I have a Japanese cruiser and a Sportster 1200 for that. I want something to do relaxed cruising on. Something comfortable with a bit of character, and something that actually looks like a motorcycle. These bikes fit the bill. Sadly, I will not be able to buy one. I have no more room. I now own 7 bikes. I would have to sell, or rather give one away to make room. I spent over $1000 getting my 2013 Bullet sorted out (carb conversion, new exhaust, and a few other things) Now it has 11,000 miles on it and is probably about worn out despite lots of maintenance. It is also almost worthless. I would be lucky to get $1500 out of a bike I have $7,000 invested in. I know motorcycles are not an inexpensive hobby, but that is ridiculous. I hope these new bikes turn out to be as good as they look.
