Just for fun, I dusted off the April 1962 issue of Cycle World and also my first CW issue, the second one that they published in February 1962. In the April issue, CW published a test of my first full-sized motorcycle, a Yamaha YD3.  Mine looked just like the one tested, except that the one that I bought new from the Al Fergoda Norton/Yamaha/Lambretta dealership in San Francisco, came stock with cream-colored plastic leg-shields.  :o Photos attached.

Isn't it odd how "modern" the cover of that '62 magazine seems...If one saw it in a rack today it really wouldn't seem at all out of place. Must be the sans serif typeface, similar enough to the all-engulfing  Helvetica or Arial of present day.
So badass my Enfield's actually illegal  in India. Yet it squeaks by here in Virginia.

That's an interesting spec sheet. 19hp 72mph 19 second 1/4 mile for $550. Today's beginner bikes are spaceships by comparison.
