Here is the latest engine design from BMW designed to meet Euro 5 and to make your current boxer engine obsolete, I assume. It looks like the system needed a relatively minimal change and expense for BMW. I can hardly wait for Royal Enfield to come up with VVT for their Bullets.

What does it mean obsolete? Digital watches made a rolex obsolete long time back. Rolex still sells, it has the advantage that no one tries to outlaw it.

Might get bit difficult to get them in the future though.

The automatic decompressor looks more robust than that one on the UCE.

I have far too little competence to comment on the engine, but I just wonder how some of the design decisions are being made. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in some of those meetings. lol
