Here is the latest engine design from BMW designed to meet Euro 5 and to make your current boxer engine obsolete, I assume. It looks like the system needed a relatively minimal change and expense for BMW. Hopefully having just two cam curves will be enough and the new engine will not suffer a VFR800 issue when it shifts from one curve to the other: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ_imEPmWuk

I can hardly wait for Royal Enfield to come up with VVT for their Bullets.  ;)

An old design adage:  The more complicated a design is, the more likely it will break.

What does it mean obsolete? Digital watches made a rolex obsolete long time back. Rolex still sells, it has the advantage that no one tries to outlaw it.

Might get bit difficult to get them in the future though.

The automatic decompressor looks more robust than that one on the UCE.

I have far too little competence to comment on the engine, but I just wonder how some of the design decisions are being made. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in some of those meetings. lol
This D-Bal Max review is exceptionally well done.
