The little heat shield that was fastened to the muffler with two small pop rivets came off today.

Big surprise. ::)   Can't believe they used pop rivets on the exhaust.

best next to see where your regulator is located...if under the seat that will be next part to break off. if so it would be a good idea to remove the outer screw and replace it with a zip tie and secure to the frame.
if your regulator is on the outside of the left side electrics box- you have no worries and it's there for good ;D

Zip ties don’t “back off”. And you never have to use LocTite.

That part broke a couple of weeks ago but nothing fell off!  It has a zip tie on it now.

in that case I wouldn't expect any more real drama from a 017 model...both items are known faults and the rectifier has been relocated late 017 onwards.
as for the exhaust guard.....that's a pretty cheap application of a part...lol
