Weight is the one important factors often excluded from many posts where it’s actually one of the most critical thing to be considered. Suspension being the obvious. Tyre pressures and seat comfort are near the top of the list.
I’ll take this opportunity to clarify that perhaps I find my stock seat comfortable for 500 mile long days is because I weigh 175lbs and am therefore not crushing the foam enough to end up bouncing off the seat pan on the bumpy road sections.
Never underestimate the value of improved combustion efficiency and reducing parasitic engine and rolling chassis losses.

My 2013 b5 seat is not uncomfortable,on a 120 mile ride. I do not really notice it. The factory must use different foam on each bike! I weigh 170 lb,so the foam is only slightly compressed.

Maybe there's a weight limit.  I'm at 215 and I get pretty uncomfortable after about 45 minutes.
