The state of spelling in this country is atrocious :) :) :) ;)

Spent '57, '58 and part of '59 in California. Enjoyed the hell out of what I did, where I went, who I met. I never went back, never missed it, very glad I didn't stay there.
RI USA '08 Black AVL Classic.9.8:1 ACEhead/manifold/canister. TM32/Open bottle/hot tube removed. Pertronix Coil. Fed mandates removed. Gr.TCI. Bobber seat. Battery in right side case. Decomp&all doodads removed. '30s Lucas taillight/7" visored headlight. Much blackout & wire/electrical upgrades.

Well, my spell checker didn't complain.  I finally found a state map and corrected the spelling of Morro.  However I also checked my other posts that I made in other forums and noticed that the spelling of Morro was correct.  So either my one of my left fingers made a mistake typing or "auto-correct" did it.  Apparently it doesn't like that name. ::)

Yah.
I've ridden route 1 several times and the views are beautiful.

My biggest complaint with riding that road is the traffic and the speed they drive coupled with the fact that the road is one lane each way and most of it is a "no passing" zone.

A almost endless stream of motor-homes, campers and white knuckled drivers who came from the plains states and never saw a drop off at the side of the road of over 2 inches makes going real slow.  Like probably about 30 mph.  :(

On one of my rides on that highway, the road crews were doing something (I never found out what it was) so they had all of the North bound traffic stopped.

People walking around looking over the edge at the ocean.  Kids running and screaming at the top of their lungs.  Dogs barking.  You get the picture.  :o

Anyway, since everyone was stopped and had been for a long time I decided to slowly ride my Beemer forward.  After about a mile of slow riding, I found myself at the head of the pack.
I hadn't waited over 30 seconds before the man with the flag waved it at me and waved his other hand North so I slowly rode past him.

I had over a 5 mile ride without anyone ahead of me and with no oncoming traffic.  :D

I didn't ride real hard because I kept thinking there must be some sort of wash out or rock slide around the next blind bend but in those places where I could see the road was clear for 1/2 mile or so I did a bit of peg dragging.  ;D

That is Caltrans for you.  ::) They love closing off roads for construction, which you never seem to see when you ride pass.  Lately, instead of traffic flaggers, they put up traffic signals and alternate travel through the construction area.  The problem is that the timing assumes that someone will be walking the entire distance of the closed highway and they time the signals accordingly.  :o  You can get old waiting for one of those signals to turn green so that you can get past the construction area.

My comment was NOT about YOUR spelling. I've not noticed anything bad about your spelling OR grammar since I came on these forums in when? 2009?

My comment was about the headline in the newspaper. And, yes, I know it was a play on words.

Now I get it.  :)  I guess the newspaper was a little short on space for that article.  Either that or the author does a lot of texting.  ::)

Before I went there, I thought Big Sur was short for "Big Surf" so I was thinking, "Hey!  That might be neat.
Seeing dudes hang ten and shoot the tube would be bitchen."

When I did get there and looked WAY down over the side of the cliff to the small beach and the rocky shores with the vertical cliff's and no good waves to ride and no one riding the little ones that were there I was kinda bummed out.

The coast is neat to look at but surfing there ain't the name of the game.
