The July 2018 issue of Rider magazine tests and compares the Himalayan, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 ABS and the BMW G310GS within a single article. (You can't miss this issue as the cover photo shows all three bikes coming at you.) This magazine is typically available on most U.S. newsstands and they also publish many of their articles on their website, RiderMagazine.com. Nothing new here, though. They liked the Himalayan when ridden off road, for the usual reasons and appreciated that it's MSRP was $1,200 less than the other two small adventure bikes. It was so comfortable that their Senior Editor said he could ride it across the country anytime - although at a relatively slow speed.  Cruising speed was an indicated 70 mph, while the bike's top speed was an indicated 85 mph, although it took a while to get there and the engine felt stained over 70. The only measured statistic was fuel mileage, which averaged 58.4 miles per gallon. All of the other published statistics looked like they came directly from RE.
