Recently build (not rebuild) a 350cc CI Bullet. Now I want to change the carburetor, I am currently using standard VM 24 with K&N E-0900 air filter and Pilot jet 27.5 and Main jet 95.

I am short listed two Mikuni carburetor VM26-606 and VM26-8074 can anyone please suggest which one is the best for my bullet.

I have a 1999 export 350 standard. Going to a 26mm Mikuni will do little since the 350 intake port is 24mm diam. Save your money and work with the Mickcarb there is nothing wrong with it that can't be done with a little tuning. After all the Mickarb VM24 is for all intents and purposes  a Mikuni.  My bike runs great with the original VM24 using  a 100 main, a richer 2.0 throttle slide (available from Hitchcocks pt# 141957A), and needle setting 2nd groove from bottom. I am running the standard air filter which is more than adequate for the 350 since its the same filter as the 500 that draws 43% more CFM than the 350 at any given rpm. The restrictive long export muffler has been changed to the original shorter type with the longer headpipe to match. The VM 24 comes standard too lean and a big improvement is made simply replacing the weak 2.5 slide with the 2.0 and going a notch richer on the taper needle. Since my area in Illinois mixes up to 10% ethanol in the gas going richer to compensate is needed. The pilot jet only controls idle and the moment the slide begins to open it is bypassed to the main jet system. Good transition from idle to main is controlled by the throttle valve cutaway which is too weak and a 2.0 slide is needed. No need to change the pilot jet on my bike since the idle air screw has enough range to dial in perfect idle mixture
