How does the front axle come out on a 58 Connie?  I need to remove it to balance the wheel.  Does the bearing come with it?

Yes, it does! The axle is shaped like this and held by the bearings:

That's exactly what I was afraid of.  So, I'll have to remove the axle and bearing to balance the wheel.  Ok, thanks.

You can also balance it with the axle installed. Either clamp it between two tips, or place the axle upon a stand. You can even balance it directly in the forks.

Not with the digital spin balancer at work.  The axle has to be removed to mount the wheel to the machine.  It wasn't the easiest task, but I got it tackled after work.  All good to go.  Thanks!
