Actually RE made/makes one. I may have the only one in existance but I bet you could still get one from Royal Enfield of Ft. Worth. Tim is working there on a full time basis and no one (and I mean no one) knows more about RE parts and part number history than he does

I have a 2008 Iron barrel. the drum brake plate covers must of the sprocket. Leaving not much more than the sprocket teeth showing. Will this gadget still work on the 2008?

While I haven't tried it out on my 2011 B5, it looks like it would work once the chain guard is removed.

Not a bad looking tool for the price.
I’ve successfully used a string that was tied between heavy boxes and stretched out  along the front and rear wheels.
After I adjusted the rear wheel chain snails, I used a paint pen to mark the snails for even use next time .

If your sprocket teeth clear the inside face of the inner and outer chain plates when you spin the rear wheel backwards, you can be pretty confident your chain is accurately aligned.

That's how I determine mine too portishedric.

I might fashion one up out of a mini g-clamp I have hanging around for the fun of it. Drill a whole and a bit of rod and job done.

I made one a while back from a little block of wood and a small aluminium tube. Works great. I have the motion pro tool as well, but it won't fit the CGT. Works great on my other bikes tho. recomend it.
