Without wanting to hijack, I've ordered some new ones from an Electra.

The thing is, how am I going to get the bar end weights out? They don't want to budge at the moment. If anyone has some tips, I'm all ears.

Are they held in by hex bolt or cross-head screw? Either way I would start with an impact driver. If they really don't want to move, perhaps invest in some nice new ones for your new 'bars, and keep your spare bars with their end weights intact?

sorry Blairio, poor explanation. I'd meant the inserts as opposed to the weights themselves. new bars came with inserts for the weights to bolt into.

I believe the inserts are either welded or rusted into place.
Never underestimate the value of improved combustion efficiency and reducing parasitic engine and rolling chassis losses.

IIRC they are bonded in with an epoxy.

            I am curious (Yellow? :)):

When did bar end weights start? My 2008 AVL does not have them. Yes, I got it brand new.
RI USA '08 Black AVL Classic.9.8:1 ACEhead/manifold/canister. TM32/Open bottle/hot tube removed. Pertronix Coil. Fed mandates removed. Gr.TCI. Bobber seat. Battery in right side case. Decomp&all doodads removed. '30s Lucas taillight/7" visored headlight. Much blackout & wire/electrical upgrades.
