Well it isn't hard, that's for sure.  $10-15 will get you one that will handle most anything you will run into on the Bullet.

never learned how to use a multimeter. :'(

Not sure what a multimeter will tell me. I think I already figured out I have 1 ground and 2 power wires coming out of the fender. I just need to figure out if the tail light takes the two power wires and grounds itself, or 1 power wire and 1 ground.
It would be easier to guess if the chinaman who built it didn't use red and black, the universal colors for power and ground.

There's only 2 ways it can be hooked up, so I'll take a stab at it in the morning.
Now I am faced with how to mount the assembly.
If you look at the picture, there is the rubber grommeted hole, where the wires come through on the top, and the hole about an inch below that where the original bolt held on the stock unit.
The beehive unit has 2 bolts.
If I use the upper bolt in the lower hole, the grommeted hole is totally visible, so that is wrong.
If I use the lower bolt in the lower hole, the upper bolt needs to be drilled 1/4" above the grommeted hole. I am sure that won't last with all the vibration.
So I figure if I drill between the two, it'll give me half an inch leeway between the lower hole and grommet, and 1" above the grommet hole. Damn, I hate to put holes in a chrome fender.

Anybody bought that started to rust thru the chrome finish?I bought a beehive approximately 2 months ago of of ebay.Within a week or so I saw small rust spots and now it riddled with the crap.Contacted the seller and he said sorry but too much time has gone by.My retort is that its a factory defect due to poor cleaning tech. before chrome was applied and that its uacceptable to have a part rust out and especially this soon.I have filed a grievence with paypal.Went to a local harley dealership and  ordered a nos beehive from the 30s or 40s.hoping for better luck this time.
