So, a couple of other questions have come to mind, more involved than the other ones I asked:
1. What have they added to the bike, since it was created in the 50s? My reading here tells me:
Electric Start
Catch can system
PAV
Turn signals
Upgraded gearbox (5 speed)
LH shift
What else? I know they revised the brakes and probably have had a succession of alternators and batteries, but I'm looking for substantial changes, or things they have added whole (like the PAV). I ask because much of what has been added will probably end up coming off.
2. Assuming I decide to delete the PAV (very likely) and do not want to just blank the opening (also likely, since the junction has an ugly weld), I'm probably going to replace the whole exhaust. Which one of the CMW exhausts do I want, if you assume that I want better flow, a rich, nice, authentic sound, but not be too loud? I don't mind the volume of the stock muffler, but the pffft pffft pffft sound has to go.
3. The overflow tubes (I think? My Snidal manual is on backorder) from the carb, where is the best place to route them? Right now they're just hanging down, and while this is probably OK, it's kinda ugly. I have read about where to run the tubes when you remove the catchcan, but I haven't seen much discussion of where to route these tubes.
Thanks!
Mike
