Bike Bandit has published an article about motorcycle tires. I will leave it up to you to determine if all of their statements align with your tire ownership experience. However, the information about decoding the various codes on the tire sidewalls might be informative and interesting to some people that wonder what all of those markings mean: http://www.bikebandit.com/blog/post/street-motorcycle-tires-guide

I read this this morning! And I saved it. It's a great article, because it's full of things about tires that are useful even to people like me, who want to not have our tires blow out on the road but otherwise don't want to have to think about them at all.

Just be aware the the example of the date code on the tire that is used in the article is backwards.  The first two numbers are the week of the year and the last two numbers in the code are the year (1411 means that the tire was made on the fourteenth week of 2011).

The authors corrected the tire date code error.
