The cap was a unitized construction with the oil filter bypass valve as an intregal part by early 2011 or maybe a little sooner.
My 2011, G5 Deluxe came that way.

It also has the three screw cap but it also has a different engine side cover than the C5s.  Seems I've seen some C5's with the two screw caps but I may be wrong.

Arizoni - your G5 has a three-screw cap?  There goes my theory...

I thought all G5 engine covers had the full-text "Royal Enfield" logo on the sides, and the two-screw oil filter caps... and the C5-B5 engine covers had the winged "RE" badge and the three-screw oil filter caps.

My 2011 B5 has a plain and smooth 3 screw cover and a circle with "RE" embossed near the upper right side engine cover. On the fuel tank is a aluminum, riveted-on, "Royal Enfield" symbol in a long wing design. Looks nice, but kind of hard to polish and wax.

Right.  Engine side covers have the "labels".  Oil filter covers are smooth.

I expect the tank badge on your 2011 is screwed on, rather than riveted?

DAMN!  SORRY ABOUT THAT.

That's what I get for sitting on my butt in the middle of the night and going by memory. :(

No.  In the sunlight I see the filter cap on my 2011,  G5 has TWO bolts retaining it.  :o

Oh well.  NOW the world knows the right number of bolts for my motorcycle.

You are right.  I stand corrected. I put on my reading glasses and took another look.  The badge is screwed on with some very tiny screws.  I am amazed that they haven't backed out and the badge fallen off.  I guess those are some pretty serious little screws.  ;)

Whoever installed the originals on my bike "stripped" the slots and left sharp edges - which I discovered after a day of riding and a hole worn in my riding trousers >:( .  I tried to get some replacements... my local hardware store not only didn't have that size, but didn't even have a thread-measuring tool that accommodated.  I dug through their small screws - never did find the right size!

CMW used to have them... but those badges - and screws - are a thing of the past!

Trivia time  :)

When did the oil filter cover go from two bolts to three ?

When did the oil filter cover go from a multi piece affair to a unitized assembly ?

The original C5 cover was 3 bolt and the G5 was 2 bolt.  The multi piece affair was in all 2009 UCEs.  It changed in 2010 to the single piece cap.

I just noticed some older C500s (mines a 2016) have two horns like my Continental GT.
I like the two tone horns they make people take note when used in anger.
The single horn on the Classic is a little anaemic.
I don't know when the factory made this change.

2016

Royal Enfield Australia introduces Classic 350 variants, exactly same as the Indian domestic market models; with a UCAL carb.

No EFI, no oxygen sensor.

I wish they did the same for the 500 export variants since the starting of UCE. Not sure how they passed emissions for this. Must've really leaned out the mix even on the carb. But this is great, now people can put any silencer/header pipe they want and tune their carb to suit.
